  • Late Model "Dream Team" - Super/Pro. Your input...

Trying to get my mind off of what happened today in my hometown, not to mention the fact that my brother and nephews were there (they are home safely now thank god) but as I do so often, I turned my attention to racing...

This past weekend, Brad May, sporting the TM Ranch colors drove (and NOT easily) to his fourth win of the year (including Speedweeks). I referred to Rogers/May as a virtual Florida Late Model Dream Team over the PA back in Feb.

So here is what I'm thinking...

Pick Two Drivers... One Super Late - One (different Driver) Pro Late... You are a Team Owner/Sponsor... Who is your "Dream Team" and why... Please stick to "Local" or "Short-Track" drivers. I'm interested to hear the input from this board and "possibly" will turn this input into an upcoming story for Speed51...

    Okay... Your turn!

Longwood Florida is home to two excellent drivers. One is well known, the other will be a big surprise.

My SLM would have Brandon Johnson at the controls. I love watching that guy! He is agressive, yet so smooth and clean. Brandon drives a stock car like Dave Steele drives a sprint: straight to the front and without a mark on it.

In my pro late model, I would put a guy you would never expect. Although he is better known for his very off-beat sense of humor, I know that he is a driver with excellent car control, who lives and breathes racing, and who is always the fastest in whatever he drives. I've seen it often: my driver jumps in a strange car for practice and out-runs the owner.....by a mile! Given the chance,, Michael Seay would come through and do any owner proud.

Forgot to mention that Michael has turned into a good fabricator, and can build a car from the ground up.

Ask a single question, get 4 more questions in reply! Man, this is like talking to my wife.

Mark said "local short-trackers", so that implies to me drivers who are still alive and are based in Florida. For example: Juan Manual Fangio? No. Brandon Johnson, yes.

                    Thanks Rex!

For the purpose of what I am trying to put together I am really trying to focus on "Active" 'Florida" Drivers. Hopefully shine a little spotlight on some of our local heroes who otherwise do not get the attention they deserve.

Don't go getting all freaky on me. Just trying to clarify before I gave my super-intelligent and well thought out answer.

Jeff Choquette in the SLM. He has proven he can run anywhere. You don't pass Kyle Busch with 5 laps to go, to finish 2nd at the Snowball Derby, without some major talent.

For the Pro Late, I would put in Brandon Johnson. He hasn't spent enough time to prove himself yet in a Super, but man can he wheel a Crate Motor car. He is another who has spent some time on the road, and has beaten all the best Crate motor guys on the East Coast. He's both smooth and aggressive. Very smart racer.

                            Mike Bresnahan/Wayne Anderson.........either driver.....either car.
Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.
