Why do I find when I go to some of the track home pages on here, that the information is 3-4 yrs. old? Is it just a reflection of the apathy of the general economic downturn of the last few yrs.? Is it just me, or am I seeing a repeat of the same things that killed many great tracks and dirt racing in general up north?

I personally think that when the websites were first built during the uproar of the "cheap website" era, everybody had to have one. But, realized later that it takes a lot of work to keep it going."Faster and Faster, 'Till the Thrill of Speed Overcomes the Fear of Death"

I don't know if I posted this on here before, but, I will again..
I design and maintain websites for a hobby. I own 3 now and maintain them.
If any track or promoter, hell even racers want a site built and maintained, it cost $20 a month for the server and I will build it for free. All you have to do is get with me on the layout. Also, have someone right the articles for your track as I am not a journalist."Faster and Faster, 'Till the Thrill of Speed Overcomes the Fear of Death"

Having your own website does take time for sure. I keep mine up-to-date unless I am sick or with my grandbabies which is not often. But you have to make a decision to keep it up to date and just do it. Some tracks do have websites that are forgotten which is a shame but it does take time to do this and someone who will do it. For quite a few years I kept karnac up-to-date and there were many times that I had to go searching for race results because the tracks had no p.r. or anything. It ain't easy for sure.

Having an out-dated or neglected website is worse than not having one at all, IMHO. I'm disgusted when going to a site, reading into an article only to find that I'm reading last years results, schedule, etc..
If I've gone to your website (whatever track we're talking about) it's because I AM INTERESTED in your track, and most likely considering a visit. Unless I've got another source of information it's easier to just stick with the local track or move on to a track that can tell me what's going on and when.

What Shiloh said X2, exactly my thoughts, particularly whan you never see any advertizing at all, who is willing to take a chance that a track is even still in operation based on info from a web site with the last data from 2009, case in point, Marion county, I passed by there some yrs. back and it was closed, who even knew they were back in operation. They wonder why the seats are empty.

I agree with most of you.Keeping a website current is the most important thing.Linda Jericka, does a bang-up job for Full Throttle speedway,as well as the job she has done with the former Punta Gorda speedway.
She also sends me e-mais on current shows and programs and keeps me current on info and track news.Hey,its not hard to do this.A lot of it is laziness.Just have somone do it for you promoters who dont have time to do this.Offer a free admission is all it would take.
The real good ones not only post it on this board and send personal e-mails,they send it to Speed Channel and will get mentioned on their broadcasts. That's going the extra mile,AND gives these tracks notoriety where it brings in more attendance to their tracks,I've seen it.Hey,maybe you promoters should take note.Unless,You don't want more people coming to your track.....
