  • This is how to put together a show

Sprint cars, two classes of figure 8's and 5 other events. I'm really happy that Showtime is putting together exciting and interesting shows. As much as I love racing, even I can start to snooze when someone schedules endless classes of antique Monte Carlos and a Bandolero-thon.

Sometimes there are a couple old chevelle's or gran prix's mixed in with those antique monte's.Besides, sometimes the most entertaining part of the night is trying to figure out what a couple of those old beat to hell street stocks started off life as.You know almost like a drinking game.Is it a regaprix or a cutlcarlo or just beat to crap sheet metal? I will agree about the bando's.Kind of pointless in this age of 14 year old late model drivers watching three 13 year old's race twice a night in a glorified lawn mower. But I think if you check some of those other 5 event's are those antique monte's you fall asleep on.But cheer up,at least Showtime DOES have a full field of them.

      I Guess I Was Wrong

No antique monte's on the bill there this weekend. But I still would rather watch them than the spectator crap posing as a division. That is unless Yoho can convince them to run WITH the figure 8's.

        Just to clearify....
When I mention "antique Monte Carlos", I'm not taking a swipe at the teams that race those cars, my problem is with the tracks and rule books that don't evolve. Sooner or later, we are going to have to modernize things! Most short tracks are behind the times.

That what I said was said jokingly don't you?(even though I came out of that type racing but ours was impala's and galaxie's)But I am curious in what your idea of evolving is since the only real evolving left is everybody sitting around watching a bunch of Prius's run around the track.(God please don't let that happen in my lifetime.)If your talking about like an all open wheel show that evolves clear into 1940.Figure 8's? 1960's.All that has cycled through to what you have now.Really even the money end of it.It was peanut's way back in the 40's and 50's,got a lot better in the 60's and 70's and kind of cycled back towards peanuts again. The main thing I'm seeing (at least from the grandstand side of it since I've been out of the pit side of it for many years now) is the track owners idea that they can put any kind of crap card on the bill and people will beeline to the track and pay 15 bucks to watch it.Too many things to go on about in one post, but the majority of the tracks can't see the forest for the trees.
