It's one week before the start of the season up here at the 3/8th-mile high-banked Midvale Speedway in Midvale, OH. The speedway posted a story yesterday that Midvale Late Model competitor, Derek Grewell, had his garage broken into, and it, along with the race car, was vandalized:

The story:
Looking at the spray-paint, they're pretty sure it had to be a competitor's team or fans, but, at this point, they're not sure exactly who.
For someone to pull this kind of stuff, they gotta be kind of...cowards. To pull this kind of stuff just a week before the season opens...just bites.
Today (Thursday), track owner Randy Smith has stepped up to try and get Grewell on the race track by next week:
We hear stories all the time about "how bad track owners and promoters are", but this just goes to show that there are *good* ones out there.
Hope to see this guy get on the race track next week, and that they catch whoever pulled this crap.

Some pretty bad news here...Derek Grewell had someone break into his garage and vandalize his car. If anyone hears anything on who it was or has any info Contact him. As a racing family, I'm sure we can come together and help him out.

Work is in progress to get Derek Grewell on track for the start of the season. Track owner Randy Smith has contacted Steve Swan at Swan Fabrication to get a new body on the race car after it was vandalized on Wednesday.
Swan, along with Late Model driver, Bob Schneider, Jr., will work to get the body installed and Bubba Smith has stated that he will apply graphics to the car for free.
The track will be collecting donations at the track this weekend at test and tune to help with repairs. Anyone wishing to donate, please stop at the pit office.
Track owners have also also put up a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the conviction of the culprit.
