On July 7, 2013 there will be the biggest baddest most awesome night of racing... Full Throttle Speedway is going to honor JACK SMITH with an annual Jack Smith Memorial race featuring the best OPEN WHEEL MODIFIED racers in Florida. There will be fireworks and all kinds of great racing. So plan ahead. Soon we will post news about sponsoring laps etc. Proceeds will go to Jack's wife Kathryn.

In honor of Jack, I might have to, for the first time EVER, wear a Miami Dolphins shirt & hat. Just the thought makes my skin crawl, and if my Mom gets wind of this, she will never let me forget it.

Oh well.... sometimes ya just gotta do things you don't like, if it would please a friend.

I guess I wasn't clear about my Mom. She LOVES the Dolphins, even though all of us were born in Buffalo. She turned 'traitor' a long time ago and is a HUGE Miami fan. I just.. can't... do... it...

She would love to see me wearing orange & turquoise... and I just can't give her that satisfaction.

The date on the schedule says July 6 th a Saturday night show unless it was changed.

Jack was a good guy. We've had our arguments, fights and disagreements.... and even a banishment from Karnac more than once... but when we stood face to face, it was almost always a good thing.

We both learned that we were both passionate about our own opinions, even if those opinions didn't match each others. I like people that stand their ground, and can give honest & heartfelt reasons WHY they feel the way they do.

Jack ALWAYS gave me his straight-up thoughts (and I gave them in return), and we still retained a respect for each other, even if it wasn't an AGREEMENT about them.

I will try to be there to honor a fallen friend..... wearing Dolphins colors will be MUCH more painful than the drive time & cost to get there.

I will try my best to make this tribute show for Jack who was quite an influence on many. Especially if proceeds go to his family.

I joined Karnac originally in about 2001. I still have the one and (only) PM Jack ever sent me. Even though he scolded me a bit about how i closed my comments, he completely agreed with my statements. That meant a lot to me coming from him. A man who owned and operated a website and knew the inner and outer workings of racing but rarely ever posted or commented on the message boards.

Hope to meet you when you come to FTS.. Jack was an amazing man in the racing world... he did more than anyone i know... i miss him alot and am looking forward to this being an enormous tribute to a wonderful friend.

July 7th is a Sunday. Looking at the post from Linda about the schedule, the Jack Smith race is on July 6th.

My bad... Kevin and I were talking about the race and he mentioned the weekend following the 4th. I was counting on my fingers! lol I will double check that it isnt a Sunday race but I'm sure you are right. Thank you!
