Some classes had a pretty good count but others were lacking. I was impressed with the Mini Stocks but disappointed with the Mod count.First time back on slicks in awhile I thought more would come out. 52 cars total: 12 Mini Stocks,6 Sportsman,11 Super Stocks,6 Pro Lates,5 Mods(4 big motor and 1 E-Mod),4 Trucks and 8 Strictly Stocks. The Supers had the best race followed by the Strictlys.Every thing moved along without a hitch and racing was over by 10pm.Over all not a bad night.

Yea I can't understand why they just didn't put every one back on the slicks. just to put one class back on them dosen't seam like it would be worth the tire mans time to have 8 in slick that only the big mods can run . At this point I dont think it matters anymore really 4 big motor mods slicks.

E trucksmanstock class
Here is one of the issues about number of classes.......sportsman, e- mods, trucks and even super stocks to an extent are all basically the same thing.....
they all run stock suspension, stock type or crate motors, 8 in tires.......
get rid of 4 classes and make one.......yes it would piss off a few people, yes people would have to change some stuff on their cars.......
if you take the avg for the last year or even from last night.....
6 sportsman, 11 Sup Stcks, 4 trucks and avg 8 e mods
Thats 29 cars right there.......probably close to a 100 different cars ran at NSS last year......if that was one class, you would probably get 25-30 a night,
Another idea, not exactly sure how far off these 4 classes are in lap times.....it can't be much.....a little tweaking with weight and maybe carbs to each and you could for a year, let them run as they are in the same class
Could have had a race with 30 cars last night........Two 15 car features, invert the field and you have a 25 car feature with the fast cars, trucks or mods in the back passing cars........
Again, not sure exactly what the purses are for all four classes , but if you took the highest two and combined them, you could pay the
E trucksmanstock class a good fair purse and maybe even more would show up.......
Just my two cents

agree, was going to bring e-mod last nite to run with big mods till i saw i had to run on slicks. put both mod clases on same tire, makes sense for car owner and tire people. slicks are prob. better, same price and prob. get one more race out of then treads. at least would not have to have 4 sets of wheels.Originally posted by modracer#8 View PostYea I can't understand why they just didn't put every one back on the slicks. just to put one class back on them dosen't seam like it would be worth the tire mans time to have 8 in slick that only the big mods can run . This is some more of that trying to please everyone.Originally posted by modracer#8 View PostYea I dont get why they wouldn't put the e-mods on slicks. I have both cars and I am not happy about haveing to buy two diffrent sets of tires.
It doesent make any sence for the tire man or the racer.. Pich one and tell the racer wich one ur going to run..
I would pick the hardest and the cheapest.
I dont have a dog in this fight bit that is what makes the most sence..

Yea I would rather run the slick on everything it needs to be one or the other not both. as far as to many classes the super stock, e-mod,, sportsman all run the 602 crate and 8 in tires they should dump the super stock class and run crate motor only in the e-mod and sportsman class no built motors in my opinon. it cost the same to run these classes.

Holy crap, hell must be freezing over, this is twice in the past few days that I totally agree with what you are saying Don...Originally posted by Don Nerone View PostThis is some more of that trying to please everyone.

This ties right back into the other thread where I was talking about the mod's... I didn't even know they were on different tires. That adds more absurdity to the situation...
Pick ONE tire and stick with it. As far as the E-mod's, same thing with the motors - Oh we are going to run the 602 crates. Then comes the "but you can do this statement". Pick a damn direction and stick with it.
I can appreciate the track wanting to appeal to as many racers as possible, but I don't think having all of the "if/and/or/but" statements in the rules is helping.

Dave Dave U payed for ur tires with rooled pennysOriginally posted by dd38 View PostThe racers should in each class what tire they want to run, not the track or tire guy/gal.
Hea a open tire rule that should finish them off. Buy next week whatever the guy found that was faster than what won the week before. $200 $300 each go get them soft bad ass shoes for ur racer ..Why not 12' wide so every one can buy rims also..
Now dousent that sould stupid..
How about a hard slow cheap tire that no one will like and the best driver and setup guy will shine.
If the tire is hard enough the big engines will be at a disaadvantage.
I rember Lovelady wining a champinship and telling everyone that he bought 6 tires all year. (im sure u wont beleave that)

I would believe it.......my dad won a sportsman championship and bought maybe 6 new tires all year.....we ran take offs from speedweeks and the LM guys.......that is one of the problems with the treaded tires,,,,,,there are no takeoffs and they are terrible after two heat cycles

And that boys and girls explains why short track racing in Florida is almost dead. How long has the " hard, treaded, cheap tire myth " been floated by guys who want to sell you their brand and style of tire?Originally posted by Don Nerone View PostDave Dave U payed for ur tires with rooled pennys

Put everyone on the same 10in slicks. Mandate that the lower classes use take-offs only. If there aren't enough take-offs ( pretty unlikely ) then let the tire man bring in take-offs from his other tracks at a good price.
