How would you guys feel if payouts were substantially increased but only the top three were paid.

I'd rather they decreased the number of classes and paid back 15 spots. Combining many classes should increase the number of entries, level of excitement, and sense of urgency to move forward.

As a car owner in the past I feel the further back you can pay the healthier the class will be for weekly programs. When running specials you have to front load the winner to draw out of towners. On another web site I saw some squabble about Bubba cutting a purse(not the first time). Ellisville posted a payout based on car counts. If the track can live by it this would certainly end the squabble as you would know the payout before you ever hit the track. If you choose to race after you see the payout then it is your dime not the tracks.

I offered a pay per car count option to NSS a few years ago and Kim and Robert actually implemented the concept of it raising the purse through the field for more cars.......Didn't seem to work. Then Robert actually just raised the purses in hope of bringing more cars because everyone was bitching about payout......Didn't work again........Mark posted the new payouts for NSS and of course gets a smart ass comment .....Give the Mr Hart a little credit......he has raised payouts now 3 different times......no they aren't 10k to win and 300 to start a super stock 25 lap feature like some think should be the case, but he is coming out of pocket to work with the drivers.....

SO I looked at the Bright House 100 lap payout and did a little ciphering......

What if he had a 15 car field and paid the winner the same $3000 purse and then split the rest of the purse evenly among the other 14 finishers.......that would pay 2nd -15th $650 each.......now of course the more cars that showed up the LESS the guarantee would be......I am sure there is a break even point where it would benefit everyone......15 looks pretty good........20 cars would be $575 2-20 and 25 cars would be $525 2-25.........Same overall purse he would pay anyway.......Maybe at 25 cars plus the owner would guarantee say $600 knowing those extra cars would mean more people in the pits and hopefully more fans in the stands to see 25+ cars in a race........IF I was a track owner I would think about this, but I would have to have one stipulation......no start and park.....you have to run at least 50 or 60 laps unless you crash or blow up to get paid in full........

This is similar to a pay per lap raced I saw an article on a few years ago......everyone gets say $5 a lap with leader bonuses every 10 laps and of course for winning........

          THOUGHTS??????

Pay per lap and per position gained from original starting spot. Would possibly make every lap as important as the last lap, would possibly cut down on wreckfests and unneeded cautions, would encourage fast cars to start from the back and would leave track operator option of decreasing total laps if car count was short of expected. Instead of advertising a 50 lap race, the promoter could just advertise $50 per lap led, $30 for 2nd, etc. and $20 per car passed and adjust actual laps as car count dictated.

You can't decrease the advertised number of laps just because the car count sucks.THAT IS FALSE ADVERTISING, and as a race fan nothing pisses me off more than being lured to a race track with the promise of a 100 lap or 50 lap race, and then after I've paid my moneyto get in its like oh and by the way we're only running 25 or 50 because we have a crappy car count. To a lot of people that's just more the reason to just stay home and watch the NASCAR race on tv.Oh when I was racing that would have been great because it would mean less wear and tear, fuel and so on and so forth.Would you pay to go see a 90 minute movie and than the theater cuts the middle of it out because they didn't like how many cars were in the parking lot?Did you even once see NASCAR cut the distance of any of the Nationwide series races the last few years even though on several occasions they couldn't fill the entire field? There is a reason for that, one of which is its just wrong to draw people there with the promise of one thing and then try to give them something else once you have them there. That's called bait and switch and several states have laws against that.Evidently Florida is not one of them though. The race tracks inability to get racers to show up shouldn't be justification for them to gyp me.Posted purses ARE a good step since there are no surprises to the race teams and hence (at least in a perfect world) no ill will between them and the track owners/promoters at the end of the night.I don't like the idea of the pay per lap and trying to stop the start and park deals at this point in time at least until the car counts consistently come up.What do you think makes a bigger impression on an 8 year old kid in the stands? The sound of 8 motors roaring down the track to take the green flag,or 24 motors doing that?Even if half the field is P.O.S. cars they don't know that. And that sight and sound will hook those youngsters forever.Future paying customers. At this point just get cars on the track by any means necessary even if it means paying for start and parks.Once you get the car counts back up you can always change it later.,

I actually ran in a street stock enduro style race 30 years ago that was structured somewhat like that.It was 500 (yes I said 500 not 50) laps paying 1000 to win.AND absolutely NOTHING for second.Even though at the end of the night the promoter felt the crowd was good enough that they decided to pay 2nd place $100 bucks.Sucked for us since we finished 3rd.I imagine it sucked just as bad for the 4th place guy though. But we flat towed the car to the track with a log chain and all those laps on a third mile completely fried the brakes to the point when I came off the track I almost ran over some of the people they jumped the gun and let through the gate from the stands into the pits.SO after just missing any money had to put more out to get the car towed home with a wrecker.lol Now that's how to get rich racin'.

Well its nice to see someonetrying to come up with real ideas to help racing.
I would give every driver a free pit pass and every car 5 grandstand ticket for the first month for a grand opening month.
Then i would try get each class to have a week of something different (nutty race).
Does any rember the beer push.
                  sutecase race
                  shoe race
I wouldint do it but sucide race
                  lotts of ideas.
I would sell sponsors the cars that raced for me each week(buy a sign and get ur name on a car) car gets a set of tires
Anyone that has a car and doesent miss a week gets in free every week. miss a week and buy a ticket.
                  It goes on and on.
                  Hope OZZY is reading this..
Need to come out with something big soon.
Hope this will give some tracks a idea or 2
