Although Ozzy may not know how TO run a racetrack, maybe he knows how NOT to run one. If Barbara, Butch or Rick had done such a great job, there wouldn't be a problem that needs to GET fixed.

This isn't a slam on The Pierces at all, but the facts are that OSW struggled to get cars in the pits, and butts in the seats. The place NEEDS new blood. The only real change I saw coming, was changing the 'F' in Fascar to an 'N'.... other than that, same night, same divisions, same people.... there was nothing 'new' planned.

The old formula didn't work. Something HAD to change, and whether this is a good change or not so good, remains to be seen.

But it IS different, and that means there's hope.

Since everyone is throwing in their 2 cents....

I'll start by saying that I like Butch and Barbara. They are honest, hard-working people who dearly love our sport. I am surprised they have parted ways, but its not their first rodeo and they will do just fine, no matter what they choose to take on.

I also think that posters on this thread are too negative about the situation. Remember, neither Wes nor Mr. Moya are new to the racing business. They have both proven themselves successful at other venues in this part of the state. I'm betting that their management approach, whatever it may be, will help in the rebuilding process. Hang in there with them: there will be steps forward, and other steps backwards.

By the way, I had a nice talk with Butch and I can assure you that his love and enthusiasm for the track have not dimmed. He and the family will be there racing and having a great time, you can count on that.

I know I'll be there on opening night, and am rounding up some friends and family to go too. I suggest we all give them a chance, over and over if necessary.

what can we do but try, everybody is talking about we can't do it the old school way..but I wish we could because that's where I'm from...the economy is so much different now than 30 years ago when we all started doing this racing thing.I think that is the biggest problem with the car counts and fan attendance. When I first started racing in 78 at Sunshine Speedway,it cost $6 for pit entry,$3.50 on the fan side, concessions were a lot cheaper, you could buy black & white pictures for $1,$2 for color...the fans also had access to buying the pictures at the track on the fan side as well as driver shirts/hats.
I don't know I just honestly think the majority of the problem is the economy. But just my opinion...were gonna be coming for as long as we can afford it.
                      Let's keep trying!!!

I agree we should give the new owner a chance, however their lack of keeping us posted on what is happening is unacceptable. They delayed the schedule long past when it was promised. Then after a posted schedule it gets retracted. Now a new opening day schedule but only for one race. After that race then what? It would be nice to know. Let us know what is happening, it is the responsible thing to do. And it is the best way for us to believe in him. So far not so good.
