I just don't understand why Florida tracks feel that Saturday night is the only night to run. I know of many tracks across the nation that run on Friday nights, and Sunday evenings that do very well. Why some even run midweek and make it work. The Saturday night only mentality of Florida race track owners and promoters has to go in favor of common sense.

I could not agree more. Bubba North Florida and Putnam all running late models something has to give, This week Putnam and North Florida are going head to head while Bubba is running the crate lates. Whitener and others run both classes so we will see Sunday morning how it all shakes out. Very soon Volusia will be on the scene as well so there will be no room for cooperation as has existed in the past between Bubba and North Florida. Even with a purse war the field will be diminished for all fans.

Anyone know anything about who leased it? I know it says a Doug Kagey Jr. & Wendi Underwood are the promoters. My question is who are they and what are their experience running a track. Just looking for some background as i like volusia and would like to see it back running. Just hoping the new leasee's know what they are getting into.

For what it's worth Matt.... I've never heard either name before. Doesn't mean they aren't good, but I've got nothing to back them up on either. I hope they make a good strong go of it though.
It's a great track, with really good local fan support, but I hope their field of cars can recover from the competition that opened before they did. Both Bubbas and Putnam are going to put a dent in the fields.

Positive attitude?
Positive attitude? not really, more like get real, look at the facts, too many tracks, few fans, poor economy, other attractions for peoples discresionary money, like off of S.R. 100 in Bunnell, a week end mud park that draws 3000 per week, (They said), I attended my first stock car race in Dover,N.J., 1946, been going on and off ever since, I was very blessed to live at Lake Mohawk, Sparta, N.J. for many yrs., about 55 miles from Flemington, Nazareth , Harmony and OCFS, in Middletown, N.Y., and even back then those tracks juggled their racing to not all try the same night. I'm thinking that I've been to races at more tracks that don't exsist today , than those that still do. Seen it up norf. hate to see it down here. I try to support my local dirt ovals on the weekends I'm not racing my dirt 2-stroke racing karts.
