iTS MEANT TO BE A SHOW FOR THE FANS
Yep, you are right. We are die-hards: we'll watch antique Monte Carlos drive in circles until sun-up, but normal people are not as tolerant. They want a show that starts on time, runs for 2 -3 hours so they can get the kids in bed before they lose it.

Lets be honest here, what difference does it make if there are only 20 people in the grand stands?

Well, having 10 classes and ending at 2AM is not gunna increase that number, thats what we are trying to do right???

If you are only catering to the racers and the track can afford not to (keep) anyone in the grandstands than this will be fine. Personally I like shorter features with more cars.
I am not gonna rush out of work at 6 PM, sit in traffic and pay $15 to watch a 3 car bandolero race. I am a race fan, now look at it from a non race fans perspective looking for something different to do. Will they come back? My guess is no.

This will be Mr. Moya's first circle track show (he comes from the drag world). He will experiment and learn what works. I don't expect the 10 class concept will last long; we'll see.

10 classes with heats? Yea, I'll take 1am.

I'd stay til 2 am if there are 15+ cars per division, but that ain't gonna happen. No one wants to watch 4-6 car races drag out until after midnight especially a family with kids.

I am sure this guy isn't "winging" it and has done some research, where he did the research I'm not sure...

4 to 5 SOLID classes of racing, keep the rules consistent for more than 6 months at a time and work on building the car counts from there. Alternate the top two classes if you must (run mod's one week, LM's the next). This does two things -

                    1) can keep the class count in the 4 to 5 range per race night

                    2) gives racers an opportunity to possibly run a higher division without going broke by giving them a night or two off per month.

                    Sheesh.

Yes the teams need to know in writing what to expect before they show up! Don't need surprises when you drive nearly 4 hours one way! Payouts and pricing not posted will keep me home for sure. Already have been down that road before. Need to post if you want the car counts to increase!

Here is a thought. Go to the Lightning game. those people know how to put on a SHOW!!! Lightning lost both games I went to recently had the best time and will go back several more times this year.

                          THEY PUT ON AN EVENT!!

Sold out crowd on a Tuesday Night a week ago! 50/50 was $36000 last night! Yes $36000. Someone left with $18000!!!!!

I dont want to hear about the economy this the economy that, it's just excuses.

The Bucs cant fill the stands. The Rays cant fill the stands. How do these people do it. They get it, put on a SHOW, make it an EVENT. Young people were all over the place!

Racetracks could do so many simple things to create an Event.

They won't. And you know why, we are our own worst enemy. We think we know everything

Ok, rant over you can BLOW ME UP now.

10 classes. Staying until 2am. 4 cars to a class. Go carts on a full size track bla... bla... bla... we are done.

AGREED!! I think a few people on this forum could run a racetrack (SHOW) better than some track owners/promoters. lol
