  • Important Cracker 200 Pit Stops/Procedures

To clear up a few things regarding Pit Stops for the upcoming Cracker 200 on 3/23... PLEASE Read this very carefully...

FIRST: You CAN NOT LOSE LAPS UNDER CAUTION WHILE ON PIT ROAD PROVIDED that you make it off of Pit Road BEFORE the Green Flag is displayed.

For SAFETY REASONS, there will be a Competition Caution at Lap 100. Pit Road will remain CLOSED until the Pace Truck leads the field (In the exact order they were at time of caution) down Pit Road. This will be a FUEL ONLY pit stop. Teams are NOT allowed to change Tires or make ANY adjustments to the cars while on Pit Road for the Competition Caution. Once every car has had a chance to fuel up, the Pace Truck will lead the field back onto the track.

The ensuing Restart will be SINGLE FILE in the exact order you were when the yellow came out. ALL other restarts will be DOUBLE FILE.

Once the complete field is back on track behind the Pace Car, you may choose to Pit for Tires and/or adjustments, but you will fall to the tail end of the ENTIRE field.

AGAIN... The Competition Caution is for FUEL ONLY. Absolutely NO adjustments can be made to the car while on pit road for the Competition Caution. If you choose to, you may pit ONLY AFTER the Pace Truck and field are BACK on the track preparing for the restart at Lap 101.

We will be putting up the entire Race Procedures later today at NewSmyrnaSpeedway.org

ADMIN: If there is a way we can get this a 'Sticky' Post it would be Greatly Appreciated.

Just wanted to clarify something that we have had a few questions on...

Once the Pace Truck and Field pull off of Pit Road, the Field will get the one-to-go signal FIRST time past the Start/Finish Line and Green next time around.

There will be NO Pace Laps following the competition Yellow.

Any other questions/concerns, please contact the Track Office at 386-427-4129 Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.

Apparently a post about race procedures for a big upcoming race is not as deserving of 'Sticky' status as a comical discussion over who will Announce at the new/old track.

You should have a sticky because NSS is just as big a joke.

Besides, those teams aren't looking here for the info.

Mark, maybe I could help you get a sticky. How about "Top 10 Ways to Make the Pit Stops Even Goofier?"

Looking forward to being at the race!

These halfway breaks have taken the real fun and strategy out of these races... I know it's mostly done as a safety factor, but the 200 lap races at NSS were much more entertaining the old way... Pit early and hope the tires hold up and there aren't too many caution laps to gain track position when others pit later... Plan to pit around 100 laps and hope to get a caution so you don't have to pit under green... Pit late and hope fresh tires send you right to the front... I really think it's sort of a wimpy way to do it now... Some of these kids racing now have yet to actually make a real pit stop in competition... If they ever get to NASCAR they will!
