  • races canceled at PGS

The races for March 2nd have been postponed at this time. We would like
to first apologize to the drivers, teams and car owners for any
inconvenience this may cause. There has been some serious acquisitions pointed towards the owners of PGS by 1 Board Member her name PAM SEAY as the truth has finally come out that she has been on a 1 woman crusade to take over the Punta Gorda Speedway and has been quoted by the local Newspaper (Charlotte Sun Herald) as to where the Airport stands on the speedway and the reason as to why she herself (not the rest of the members)are reaching out to others to take over the race track. At this time she should take the advice of the airport lawyer and listen to the transcribe from the meeting on Thursday 2-21-2013. Just for the record Mike Chase and Kevin Williams paid back Taxes (that anyone can go on line and look up) from 2006 for Leroy Davidson and also 2007,2008 and 2009 for Bobby Diehl also Bobby filed Bankruptcy on his part of the taxes in 2010 which the owners of PGS took over the speedway and ran their first race the last week of May. The owners of PGS are talking only to Mr. Quill and the airports lawyer at this time. The owners are still waiting on the survey to be provided to them which was to be done at the completion of the Piper Road extension.
Thank you from the owners of PGS

??????? What is the reason why you canceled the race ??????
Just because someone does not like you???????
Does not seem very fair to the fans and racers.

    Just my thoughts.

It looks like the races are permenetly cancelled. I drove by yesterday and crews were removing the grandstands. And removing sheds,it looks like its gonna be closed for good.To bad the airport could not reach an agreement with the owners of the track.

Sorry to hear that. That's a real shame. I was hoping somebody would step in and lease that track.
There's a lot of history there, sounds like it's going away for good.

The airport is going to put it out for bid, once the old lease is up.

            ???

If what elmer said(above) that grandstands are being removed, then who is gonna' lease a track without grandstands??
Oh I forgot, Bronson had to remove half the stands and all the pit stands last summer and they are still open.... kinda...

Wife and I were talking and was wondering, who owns the stands, Kevin, who ever bought them from sunshine speedway or the airport. I thought you could only take away from a lease what you had owned or bought. Just curious, going to miss the track was only 30 minutes from the house, just won't get to go to as many races now

One way or another the track will re-open. I agree the stands should not be taken down. But someone will lease it and put new stands in, maybe Leroy will get the track back?

They should make it a dirt track like Ocala did.

I think the seating and some other items were owned by the leaseholder.

I read the minutes of the meeting (all of them ZZZZZZZZZ). The track will go back out to bid and possibly for not a dime more than what was being paid. They just weren't gonna be told "This is all i will pay".
