We will be there with a mod, looking forward to it also, I believe a stong car count will show the other tracks what they might be missing out on, we will just have to wait and see. Word on the street is there's some pretty good hot rods coming to this show. Matt albe if yu want to come, and i hope see a good show let me no, I would be more than willing to buy yu a ticket, what do you have to lose, just let me no it will be waiting on ya ?Scott look forward to meeting you.

I might be letting the cat out of the bag, because there has been no formal announcement, but they DID post in the events section that ALL of the Triple 50 FUPS divisions have sponsors!:

      The ALANJAY.COM Pro-Trucks

      The Racecar Engineering Modifieds

and (my favorite and the coolest sounding)

      The Sunoco Sportsman Series!

Way to go Rick Williams for working your tail off to make this happen! To think, I posted a thread on KARNAC in August (bored on my day off) with some wishful thinking that a Series COULD happen and here we are on the eve of this thing becoming a reality. As Flounder said in Animal House, "Boy, is this GREAT!"

If I owned a speedway I would have to think long and hard about having a series or being a part of one.

A traveling series tends to kills local car counts. Whats happened to the 20 plus Sportsman drivers that were at Citrus every single week last season? Half of them have decided they are "series racers" now and don't run local shows anymore...

Same exact thing happened with the Mini Stock Challenge Series years ago. Traveling may pay more but it costs a hell of a lot more too. History showed when that series dried up most the cars got parked, some for good.

Last weeks Icebreaker had what 20 LM's? Citrus gets that or close to that on a normal night. When the out of towners come in the locals stay home.

          Wheres the benefit?

I don't think that any series has ever not wanted tracks to not have their local shows. All they want is a spot on the schedule. Racers decide to race series racing for their own reasons. To me it is obvious. The series have better payouts and better quality cars as a whole in the field. They also do a good tech inspection. The local hometown cars have always been welcome to run in the series but choose not to because of what reason? I believe that they don't feel they are not competitive enough or what I do know to be true with a lot of them is they are so illegal they won't pass tech. We race all over in series racing and in local track shows. There are only a few tracks that have close to equal car counts in certain classes as the series do. The rest of them are thin car counts with thin payouts and no tech. It is almost run what you bring. That is the biggest reason for the series success I believe. You go race a series you know you are on a fair level playing field when you show up. Local shows need to take a look at these issues to get car count up when the series is not at their track. They really could have the best of both worlds!

Couldn't agree more Mike. And you've been around long enough to know. Bringing in any series is only going to dilute the interest in your weekly show. And that's especially true if you bring in a form of racing your track already has. Something like the sprint cars or the antique cars is fine of course. But the tracks need to start developing their own car and fan count again. And tracks need to work together to swap certain classes once or twice a month.
Touring series aren't the savior of stock car racing, they might just be responsible for killing stock car racing.

I've noticed that Citrus usually does have pretty good car counts for their weekly shows. Can anybody say why that is? Better ( or even any ) promotion?
Better pay-outs? Better rules and/or rules enforcement? I don't think the track surface or lay-out is anything special.

On the subject of touring series, i'm not saying a series can't be successful, i just haven't seen one that is. I was told that the FUPS series is just a way for the owner to sell his brand of gas by making people use it . If true, that series is
a scam and destined for failure.
I sure hope the racing scene improves in Florida. And i just think that's going to require tracks to grow their own business and not rely on a series coming in.

Here is something that nobody has addressed.... When a Series comes to town, the cost at the back gate goes up to help cover the additional purse money. Other than the Series racers, all the others pay more to get in, yet race for their usual purse. If it's gonna cost me and the crew $40 a head, versus $30 a head, I would think twice about it.

It's like the track wants to pay the higher purse from the backs of the guys who aren't getting ANY benefit from the higher costs.

That is one reason that very often, when a Series comes in, the regulars in the other classes stay home.

That's a good point. I know the prices for the stands sure goes up, i hadn't thought about the racers entries.
I've already been burned at Auburndale with one of these FUPS shows where no cars showed up, so i'll be skipping this round. But i might try to catch one at Citrus and see if the show has improved.

Thanks, i'll try real hard to have a great day.
I WAS present for FUPS show there and i've given my opinion on it. It was terrible, a waste of money. I've been to 2 other FUPS shows that didn't suck as bad, but they sure weren't very good either.
There are at least 2 other touring series that i can think of that put the FUPS thing to shame. And neither of them are around anymore ( and they even had way better names ) so i don't have much faith in this one.
It isn't a question of free tickets, free tickets to watch paint dry isn't much of an inducement. By the way, thanks for the offer OWM61.

I think you said the track is doing a 2 for 1 deal on tickets. That's a very good idea to get people into the stands.
