Volusia Tuesday Night

As a last minute decision (mostly because of the great weather) went over to catch the UMP LM/Modified show last night at VSP... What a great show... 6 LM heats, 3 Last Chance races, LM 30-lap feature, 3 Modified features and a pair of "Dashes" and still left just after 11 pm... Great racing with a minimal number of cautions... Track was in great shape with drivers running high, low and in the middle... 47 UMP Late Models and 41 UMP Modifieds still left after over 90 had competed during the week... Plus they had three practice sessions for the big block Mods that start racing tonight... 36 at practice, so looks like a great field and lots of big names like Brett Hearn, Alan Johnson Danny Johnson and Jimmy Horton in the field... Thinking about going back tonight because I actually felt I got my moneys' worth last night plus got a great pork chop sandwich! Nice crowd too and Kenny Schrader's interview after his Modified feature was worth the price of admission...

Went again on Wednesday night... 55 Late Models and 37 Big Block Modifieds and again some great racing... Nearly a three wide finish in the LM after 40 laps with McCreadie just beating Lanigan and Moyer to the flag... Danny Johnson beat Brett Hearn in the Big Block feature... Incredibly tacky track... tons of three-wide racing... actually worth the price of admission...
