Carol I see Bugsy several time most winters down here. Also am good friends with Bobby Judkins whose health right now isn't great. They are great friends, usually competed against each other but Bugsy drove Bobby's 2x 5 times and won 3 of them. Bugsy helped Bobby build his garage here in Edgewater 10 yrs or so ago when they both were healthier. When Bobby was still racing at NSS and Bugsy was here as an observer Bugsy would always go nap in the hauler the last half hr or so before the race, just like he did yrs ago as a driver. ALWAYS grabbin you by the ribs and teasing the living crap out of you. Love him to death. Did you read the book he wrote about his career a few yrs ago? Its excellent.

Yes I have his book. Lew Boyd sent it to me signed a few yrs. back. Just talked to Bugs. he was eating lunch. will call him back later. we compare old age illnesses. roflll so... do i know you? ;-)
one thing that happened at the reunion that will always make my heart happy... the first time i called Gene Bergen he was so hostile and resentful about things that happened in the past. and of course lonely due to the death of his wife... well we finally got him on the radio show and laughing. he was so happy that day and thats how i will keep his memory alive in my heart. ;-)
Bobby Pendergast is a long long long time friend of mine. Met him in the 60's. he was selling freezer plans and came by every month with frozen meats... we talked about racing all the time. My father raced midgets with Al Pillion wayyyyyyyyyy back. oh gosh i could go on forever...

BUGSY! — The Life and Times
of Bugs Stevens, three-time NASCAR
National Modified Champion
By Bones Bourcier
Modified fans everywhere know the legendary name Bugsy Stevens, and his amazing story has at last been told. Whether tooling around the tiny bull rings in Texas while in the service, or driving the famous NASCAR ovals nearer his Massachusetts home, or competing on the high banks of Daytona International, Bugsy Stevens did it all with the skill of a seasoned professional and the merriment of a Saturday night beer hall.
Stevens’ perspective is profound and touching, as he deals deeply with issues such as racing ethics, driving styles, track types, and even the deaths of so many of his buddies. Told to his friend Bones Bourcier, an internationally acclaimed motorsports journalist.
