  • FUPS Pro-Trucks - No manufactured clips are allowed ! to clarify !

Something I want to make sure trucks know there is no approved manufactured clip for the FUPS series. I know something has posted that it is approved for Florida trucks, it is not. There is research being conducted on them and may be changed or done for 2014, but they are not legal for 2013 on the FUPS series. This came from a meeting last night with Rick Williams, Mike Rensburger, Carl Green and myself. Want it to be clear. Unless you see it in the series rules or it is announced by the series do not listen to it. Thanks

So then, you can or can't have a manufactured clip? I get confused.

As per the statement above: no. Maybe in 2014 tho.

Living in past,is one thing that has been plaging racing for few years now and adding a lot of exrta cost to racing, there is a lot of things to point at for low car count an poor fan turn out,but this is just one point, very old clips that are very hard to find, old motors that are getting thinner and much more high dollor, are we ever going to join the now,get new stock tech that is in the junkyards for cheep motor wise. Frame wise box tube has been lower cost ,EZer to fix then old stock clips=keeps more cars racing, needs more thinking done into now and less into keeping as it was .

              AMF wondering

Would you be willing to show us what you finish, this was another reason we wanted to hold off until we could research is we knew that folks like yourselfs would want to build them and so we need to consider tham all not just one supplier that has been talked about. I seriously just want to make sure this is done the proper way, with checks and balances if we allow them in 2014. Please contact me when you have one, so I can set up a meeting with Rick Williams, Mike Rensburger, Carla Green and myself to see it, as we research this. Thanks 407-497-0448.

                chassis question

Cost is everything in a class at this level. What would be the price difference between a stock clip chassis, front and rear, vs. a 2x4 tube truck with no stock frame at all?? Thanks Joe

Get rid of all the junk stock parts and let people buy proven racecar parts that last longer and work better. Money is saved when you can buy a part instead of having to modify and rework a stock part. Geez, why are some people stuck on stock parts ?

There's lots of people who can or would build tube front clips, Cope is the most popular but there are others. If the cost were similar i can't see any reason not to allow them.

                            Well lets see 27

His is from a supplier in North Carolina, and what needs to be checked and researched is are they a proper replacement, or is all the geometry changed etc. I have the info on that one. How can it be checked easily at the track without taking it apart. But when one is allowed others will want in as well, some will want to build them like AMF. The point is there has to be procedures and ways to check if they are right. Changing rules should be done with proper thought and research and procedures to check them. This is what we are trying to do but we will not make this kind of a rules change now or in the middle of the season, but announce toward end of the season for the new year, after it has been researched and when checks and procedures are in place. Thanks

The problem you have created now, is no one is going to build a new truck, until you finish your research. I think that is a bad idea, and should speed up the process.

What was the last year the metric chassis was in production?

As far as it being "stock car" racing, I do not believe the production cars being built today work very well for stock car racing.
