  • Well.....

Here it is Monday afternoon... Since no results are posted on here other than Bubba or East Bay, just checked the websites for Punta Gorda, Auburndale, Putnam, Citrus and Showtime... Punta Gorda, Citrus and Showtime have their results... nothing up for either Auburndale or Putnam... Punta Gorda does a fine job with not just the results, but a full story plus photos too... Showtime just links you to SpeednetDirect... No story or any PR whatsoever, but at least you can see the results... Tracks, for the most part just don't seem interested in PR anymore, especially when it comes to reporting on their events... A lot of these "Results Pages" are this computer-generated crap that not only looks terrible but is many times hard to follow... Another embarrassing thing is that so many driver's names are misspelled and their hometowns are butchered as well... Looked on the Citrus results for the Modifieds... Both Seth Adams and Wayne Morris are from Mulberry, but Morris is listed as being from Malberry... Whitney Poole must have a new twin sister as she's listed in the Punta Gorda results as Whitney Pooles... If you want to be professional, you have to at least look the part... I guess I just live in the past...

    Results/racing/life

In this day and age it is shameful that some tracks dont even attempt to put out results, stories, anything to excite the masses or reward those that compete with a little bit of press. I will hold dear to the speedsports that I used to wait weeks for to see the results and if I had a good week my name in lights. The funny thing is there are people who do go weekly and would do this as a service for the track and the patrons. BUT,,, the track might actually feel compelled to show some appreciation for individual effort and that of course is Verbotten!

Keeping the race results a secret, is the latest marketing strategy of short tracks in Florida. The theory behind it is that fans will be so curious to find out the secret race results that they will view numerous web sites, not just the tracks' site, thereby driving hits. And the more hits, the more money made. And that money must be split with the tracks themselves because there isn't any other rational reason for track PR people not even posting the info on their own web sites.
SpeedNet/Speed51 only exist because track PR people don't know their job. Or are too lazy to do their job. So those two sites stepped in to make money of of the tracks not doing their job.
Here's a little insight for those lazy or imcompetent track PR people and SpeedNet/Speed51. I'm not chasing around the net to find race results for my home track. Like every other race fan, when my local track can't be bothered to publish race info ( up to date and accurate race info ) on their own web sites or the local papers, i'm going to assume that they really don't care if i'm interested in their racing. And i'll just have to find another sport to be interested in.
Also, i'm aware that races don't get over until late, but you'll notice that NASCAR night races often get over very late. But open the next mornings newspaper and you'll always see the results, and usually a complete write up. There's NO reason that someone from the local tracks can't stay up past their bedtime once a week and at least send the results to the local paper as well as posting on the track website.

        we are so grateful!

Linda Jericka not only posts all over the internet but pictures, stories and results in our newspapers. She has it done right after the races. Sunday morning before she goes to church her story is ready for print! She does it all on her own time . Linda has volunteered this service to PGS for many years and we are so grateful to have her..... Glad you noticed. If you're happy Dave... sumthin must be good!

Thought the rundown sheet on the Citrus site was done very nicely. I hardly noticed the one minor error of an "a" instead of an "u" in Mulberry. Maybe it was Southern spelling, lol. Might be possible that some of these tracks have articles in their small local newspapers as it seems the mentality is that race fans only follow what is close to them. Let's face it, things will never return to the way they were, especially the timely reports by Announcer Dave when at OSW. The news was always posted with rapid speed. I really do not understand how tracks can improve attendance with no communication with the fans. When you have to dig for the news of races and upcoming events, a lack of interest starts to appear. Can only imagine how the occasional fan feels about it. No news = empty seats!!!

If a track values its customers (the drivers) they should be getting some recognition for their efforts. A post race story is one way of recognizing the drivers that support a track and it also creates interest to race fans. Face it people, there are stupid people in all aspects of short track racing. Stupid drivers, stupid promoters, stupid track owners, and stupid fans. Get over yourselves, you may be a stupid one. If you are not stupid, then this message was not for you.

P.S. It will be stupid to reply to my rant.

I can remember John Darveau at NSS every Sat. nite as soon as the checkered flag dropped on the last race of the night he was on his typewriter(yes i said typewriter) putting the storyline together for that's night races and not leaving until the last Phone call or Fax (and yes I said Fax) went out to the appropriate parties that needed to know. No Computers back then (and not a fax maybe even).

It has been said by some tracks and a particular person that wants to be a promoter evidently that if you want to know the results you should of been at the track. How he figured you could be at 5 tracks in the same night i'll never know.Myself I would think a track would want to be the first to post results, stories etc. I read the results from Citrus for example on here and another forum. It was their first night of the season, looked like a good show, made me think.....MMM, I think I'll take a ride over there sometime soon.

Was there only one Gladiator at Putnam, or did the computer program cut everything off at that point?
