  • So, what kind of penalty should NASCAR assess to Junior?

on a caution lap Keselowski, running 3rd, jacked Hamlin's rear up in the air and then swerved to the right and pulled right up beside him ( i'm sure there were some #1's being signaled here ). so Hamlin swerved right and bashed Keselowski's LF fender.

at this point Junior, running 4th, passes Keselowski and jacks Hamlin up himself. why did he involve himself in this? because he owns Keselowski's car.

    what say you, Karnacians?

    wow, Nationwide circus series.
Just like everything else I am sure there are two sides.
How hard did Keselowski hit Hamlin, Hamlin hit Keselowski, Jr hit Hamlin?
Did Jr see Keselowski hit Hamlin?
    Did Nascar park these guys?
Sounds to me like all three should be parked
I didnt see the race so I cant comment,

BUT, in the beginning of the season Nascar said they would let drivers express themselves a little more.

Cup guys should not be racing Nationwide series anyways.

      Hamlin should have been parked

Keselowski taps Hamlins bumper and then pulls beside him to see what is going on. Then Hamlin takes him all the way to the wall and flattens his front fender. Keselowskis chance at winning are then gone. Should Keselowski have done this? No, but what Hamlin did was much worse and did with the intent to damage the car.Was Junior wrong, yes. The one that should be punished is Hamlin for admittingly ruining Keselowskis chances of winning.
The worst part of all is that it assured the PUNK of nascar the win!

somehow, i think this is the point that you base all of your reasoning on.

Sounds to me like all three should be parked

Michael Waltrip did his best to blatantly take Casey Mears out and didn't get anything more than parked for the rest of the race.

i don't really expect much, if anything, out of this myself.

just doing my part to keep the board from being a "cemetery".

Keselowski taps Hamlins bumper and then pulls beside him to see what is going on.

            muwahahahahaha.

"what's going on" is that Hamlin is going to pay the dipstick back for being stupid enough to make a target out of his car after he just got done ramming Hamlin.

"You hit me, I'm gonna hit you". that's the first rule of driving, period. penalties be damned.

in the post-race interview, Hamlin said that he had just intended to talk to Keselowski after after the race because Kese threw a whole bunch of blocks (bottom of the track to the top, etc ) on him while Hamlin was trying to get around him and that stuff just doesn't fly with the pro's. strange, it doesn't fly with McCreary's either.

i assume there was a bump and run involved or something but i didn't see it because i didn't turn the race on till the last 25 laps. but if that's the way Kese is driving he needs to get smacked around.

after jr's shenanigans hamlin didn't do anything.

did Jr pull up next too him? nope.

it's really tough to lay a good one on somebody using only your mirror and your brakes.

nascar is going to do what ever it wants.

Wow Todd, I have not seen you so far off base in the past. I watched the race in its entirety and thought BK did a super job of running with the Cup drivers.

Jump on racerap.com and take a gander at what is being said. This is a website/forum based out of Virginia with people extremely biased in Hamlins favor and the group concensus is that Hamlin should put his big girl panties back on and quit being a baby. He should set the standard, and not expect everything so easily. Lowes is a wide track, and Hamlin is a more experienced driver. You may not realize this for the fact that you have less races in your life than some of us have in a few months, once someone starts blocking, you already have them beat. That means his eyes are int he mirror too much and not in the windshield as much.

No damage occured when and IF Keselowski hit Hamlin, so for him to do what he did was completely uncalled for. Grow up Hamlin and I will be looking for JR motor sports car to bring you to a wall near you soon.

true, but it also practically guarantees that there's going to be contact and torn up sheet metal. and there doesn't need to be.

Agreed, but I saw no point in which Hamlin was blocked By BK. and If so It was subtle. I mean come on, he is virtually a minor league pitcher in the pros. You mean to tell me that with the fact that Scott Wimmer is the only one to win a Nationwide race this year that has not won a cup race, you wouldnt be blocking either. Its stupid how the nationwide division is dominated by cup drivers.

Remember when a couple of years ago David Gilliland was the only one to win a race that was a non cup regular?

yeah, but that's a NASCAR rules issue not a driver issue. hell, NAPCAR says they want Cup drivers down there. "marketing" dontcha know.

I saw no point in which Hamlin was blocked By BK.

as noted, i didn't see the incident Hamlin was talking about. i'm ass-u-me-ing he's halfway right.

regardless, Jr's got no business opening his mouth much less ramming somebody when it was his driver that initiated the under yellow contact. remember all that talking you're doing in that Jessica thread? yeah, most of that applies here. Jr's on the hook if Hamlin goes and lawyers up just because he's the owner. and right now, Hamlin could file on both of them for assault. stupid, no other way to put it.

You mean to tell me that ... you wouldnt be blocking either.

if you aren't fast enough to keep somebody off your rear bumper and you insist on using the whole track you're asking them to stuff your Dumas ( Alexandre, that is ) in the wall. now, if you don't mind paying for race cars more power to you. or if you're racing with pansies who haven't got the nuts to do the job ... but then you can get away with pretty much anything in that case, can't you?

would i pick the line ( whether high or low ) that i thought was best for me and worst for him? yeah. running from the corner apex across his nose to the wall? no. that's begging to get totaled out.

and all he has to say is "garsh, i thought you had me cleared, guess we were both wrong about that last couple of inches".

Now we are talking about a supposed "bump" from BK to hamlin. No one has seen this bump and there was no damage to either car from this. Now what was seen was hamlin turning his car up across the front fender of BK.

From the car owner point of view I can fully understand what Jr did. Someone hits one of my cars under caution enough to cause damage and its on.Like I said originally. Its time for Hamlin to put his big girl britches back on and quit whining like tony and busch or I will soon lose respect for him too. This is a guy who just about cried over his pit crew losing a race for him last year. Those are people that still have to work full time jobs to make ends meet, change tires 3 feet away from cars going highway speeds while he gets to turn a steering wheel and sign autographs, and cash big checks. Heck Id be glad just to have someone show up and walk my gas jug over to the gas pumps for me. maybe he needs a reminder again that he could be installing trailer hitches instead of what he is doing now.

I believe a replay of the bump was played by the network after the fact. It was to let DH know he was in the way and BK was not happy with the blocking, IMO. Then BK moved up alongside of Hamlin and Hamlin swerved into BK. That's when Earnhardt came up and tapped Hamlin, just to let him know he wasn't happy with the contact in the swerve. Again, just my opinion. All this occurred under caution and the bumps were just taps. The swerve by Hamlin was a little severe but I don't think it was meant to cause harm or damage. Now for my opinion, I don't think anyone need penalizing. Maybe a short talking with to let everyone know it should be forgotten and not escalate. Denny was driving defensively and BK was racing hard when Hamlin didn't think he needed to. Geee, imagine a guy racing hard at a race. Personally that's what I want to see. It was getting towards the end of the race. And then a team owner, who happened to be driving the car behind all the action, serves notice that just let Hamlin know he didn't like what was happening. Just to clarify, I'm not an Earnhardt fan, don't know much about Brad K., and have kind of liked the way Hamlin has performed in the past. I do feel unbiased about this situation.

I read on NASCAR.com what they did do after the altercation from the Nationwide race. Sorry folks but smacking JR on the nose and calling him "bad dog" wasn't listed.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- NASCAR on Wednesday announced that Tony Eury Sr., crew chief for the No. 88 Chevrolet driven by Brad Keselowski, has been fined and placed on probation as have two JR Motorsports team members who were involved in a post-race altercation in the pit road impound area following the Nationwide Series race on May 24 at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

                          • Eury Sr. was fined $1,000 and placed on probation until June 25 for violating Sections 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 9-4A (the crew chief assumes responsibility for the actions of his or her driver, car owner and team members) of the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rule Book.

                          • JR Motorsports crew member Michael Sandlin will serve a one-race suspension from the Nationwide Series and is suspended from NASCAR until June 4. He has been placed on probation until Oct. 15 and also has been fined $1,500 for violating Section 12-4-A. Sandlin failed to follow a directive from a NASCAR official and had inappropriate contact with a NASCAR official during the post-race altercation.

                          • Jordan Allen, another JR Motorsports crew member, also has been placed on probation until Oct. 15 and fined $1,500 for being in violation of Section 12-4-A. Allen also failed to follow a directive from a NASCAR official and had inappropriate contact with a NASCAR official during the post-race altercation
                          .

Nothing listed for JR or Denny Hamlin who were involved in the altercation on the track. I know Brad hit Denny hard but Denny did hit back along with JR. I guess all that matter was the fist fight in the pits.

i thought you claimed to have watched this race? they only replayed that about a dozen times in the next five minutes. implying there was no "bump" from BK into Hamlin is like claiming that we never put astronauts on the moon.

yes, but according to Hamlin, BK had been blocking the crap out of him when the positions had been reversed earlier in the race. if you don't like it when somebody else drives the way you drive, you need to change the way you drive. or you can stop being unhappy when somebody gives it back to you.
