  • A rough night for Florida drivers at the Little 500

    Anderson Speedway, IN

Four of Florida's finest made the field in the 60'th annual "Little 500", but none of them had a good finish. Sonny Hartley went out early in a crash. Troy DeCaire started 10'th but dropped out in the first 100 laps. Former race winner David Steele lasted the longest, but he was done after 150 laps or so.

Doug Heveron, driving Don Heckman's car, set fast time and started from the pole. At 99 laps, he had just passed Jimmy McCune for second when the oil filter gasket let go. Doug and several others spun in the oil. It ended their night, even though the car looked really good.

Shane Cottle won a very hard fought event.
