Rain... What is that... It sprinkled off and on earlier today.. Just enough to send my guys home... Then it cleared up... If you want, send me a sample of that rain stuff... See if I remember what it is...

Same deal up here in SC. My yard is drier than a popcorn fart.

              Da Weather Channel Genus

As late a 3pm Friday they were calling it 80% chance of at least 1 inch or more. A big cell in the Gulf headed straight for Marion and surrounding counties. At 3:15 Mike called it to save everyone the cost of gas and time.
Based on the forcast, it was a good call. However, mother nature got a good laugh on everyone and DUMPED it all on the West coast before hitting land. Da Mother Nature biotch got over on us this time, and may do so again, but it was still a good call based on the forcasted DOOM..

NOTE: It was forcasted 50% rain on Saturday at Bronson and we went anyway. Sure enough, not a drop and a good night of racin'.(no damage to the car either)
So I guess the score is tied at this time..........

This is one of those darned if you do and darned if you don't deals. Going by the weather forecast and knowing how hard the track is to dry, I think it was a good call. When you are dealing with the public, you have to take the weather forecast, past experience, and common sense into the decision making process. However, leaving the public equation out, I learned a long time ago never to depend on the weather forecast for irrigation schedules and track prep. BTW, Ocala76, introduce yourself to me the next time you see a guy wandering around the pits and infield with a camera that isn't the track photographer.

                  Hey Winger

I'm easy to find and you have to walk right by me to get into the pits. My job, till 7pm, is to check to see if drivers have a pit slab. If not then I direct them to a spot not being used that night. So I'm at the pit gate entrance. Most everone knows my name by now so stop and say HELLO.
After all that I change shirts, put on head sets and line the drivers up, stop fights (very rare though), and do errands for the tower and tech.
Hope to see you this Friday.

                    Hey Winger

When we were sitting at that table.. Jimbo was the guy over at the pit gate counting the number of hamburgers I was eating. Dang fool never realized I went to the concession stand in the general admission area and ate a few over there (so his final count is a big shy of the real amount).. the food at Ocala is so good you just gotta get sum more. Angie was trying to treat me to a big ole hot dog called a belly buster. but I bee a burger type of guy.

Hope to see you Ocala people sometime soon.

OSF (you know, the chosen one, the D.A. from Boston that calls the Bubba show - damn, I sure got famous quick - at least I have one fan)
Thank a Police Officer for what they do........... OSF:

                      Hey Ocala

I am looking forward to seeing all you guys june 6th when we storm Ocala agin. I was talking to Carol Wicks last night at CCMP and she was asking about motels close to the track. I am going to stay this time too. I am just getting too old to work 1/2 the night then drive the rest of the night. Give us some hints on motels close to the track. Thanks Bob.........

                        Jim,
I know I've probably talked to you and walked by you a hundred times. I'll make it a point to find you next time I'm there. Hopefully the next couple weeks will be good.
OSF, You pointed out so many people that I couldn't remember who was who. BTW, I can't remember if the big ole hot dog I had was called a "belly buster" but it was good and messy. Try it next time.
Really looking forward to the Powell Memorial and the opportunity to meet some more of you. I can't help with motel information but think the Ocala speedway site has some information.
                        Bob

Its called a 'ZUBER DOG' by Mike peters. Zuber is where Ocala Speedway is located. We sometimes call it Zuber International Speedway.
Yes the web site has a hotel close by that gives a discount to fans of Ocala.
                          LATER.....
