  • FUPS Sportsman and Trucks Please Read!!!!!

As everyone knows with NSS backing out and Orlando on the brink our series schedule could drop to 3 tracks... Lets see a raise of hands (for lack of a better term) or who would be willing to make the travels to Orlando, Bronson, Punta Gorda, Ellisville, or Showtime if any of those promoters are interested. Maybe if we can show them that 20+ cars and trucks are willing to go we can get another track or 2 signed up!

I'm in for all of them(especially Bronson).

      Just so you understand ....

The issue with NSS is mute, they will not run the FUP series. Ann with Bronson has had proposals and is concerned about purse and if they can handle them. She is trying to get her track to the point they can try one, but probably not this year. The new owner at Orlando and Butch & Barbara are still looking but it will not happen the first of the year, as he gets in and gets a feel for all he is dealing with. Then it may be an added event, but most likely only one division per night. The other tracks have been contacted by Rick Williams Showtime and PGS. Ellisville committed to me a truck race but he too is worried about purses, and will evaluate what more to maybe try after he runs the June 1st date. It is important to show your support early so that the other tracks see the counts and can then see if they can do this. Saying on her you will support it is one thing, but actually going to the first events and showing will tell the tale. So before you mount a Karnac drive, know that most all avenues have been tried and some are still a possibilty but will need some time. Just so you know !

        FYI, the word is moot.
I think the racetracks are all a little gun shy about touring series in general. A lot of promises are always made to get their foot in the door, like big car counts, big increase in spectators, and big promotion. But if you look back over the sad saga of Florida short track touring series, how many were truly successful for more than 1 season if even that.
I don't say a touring series can't work, but the FUPS thing has already run it's course. Their car counts have plummeted. Someone respected is going to have to step up and get something rolling or just call it a day and let the tracks develop their own classes.

Misinformed Why All The Hating On Fups

RICK WILLIAMS WORKS HIS ASS OFF TO PROMOTE THE FLORIDA UNITED PROMOTERS SERIES ,HE HAD A LOT OF INTEREST GOING WITH SPORTSMAN AND TRUCKS, TILL THEY PULLED THE RUG OUT FROM UNDER HIS FEET, HE HAD GOOD CAR COUNTS FOR MOST OF THE LATEMODEL RACES, THE FINALLY WAS RAINED OUT AND RAN THAT SUNDAY, TWENTY TWO CARS AND EIGHTEEN HUNDRED IN THE STANDS SOUNDS LIKE A PRETTY GOOD DAY FOR FUPS, THERE SERIES CHAMPION TOOK HOME FIVE GRAND, A NEW LATEMODEL CHASSIS A NEW BODY AND A STEELHEAD MOTOR FROM PROGRESSIVE RACE ENGINES TO USE FREE FOR A YEAR AND A LOT MORE, SOUNDS LIKE A FEW PEOPLE ARE BADLY MISINFORMED ABOUT THE SERIES AND RICK WILLIAMS .

TRACKS THAT HAD RACE DATES AND SCHEDULES ALREADY PRINTED WITH TONS OF INTEREST FROM SPORTSMAN AND TRUCK TEAMS ONLY TO HAVE THEM CANCEL FORCING THE PROMOTERS SERIES TO REGROUP WHEN TWO OF THERE SUPPOSEDLY UNITED PROMOTERS DECIDED TO BAIL

I don't know who Rick Williams is, if he works hard then fine. As i've mentioned, i've been to 2 FUPS shows and neither was very impressive.
If the tracks aren't interested in booking the FUPS series, and you say they aren't, then there must be a reason. Or several reasons. It sounds like you have a vested interest in FUPS, so maybe you see this from a different perspective. But from what i've seen, the FUPS Series isn't going to be missed very much. Let's wait and see what NSS and Orlando come up with as a replacement.
And as several have mentioned, the racers from that series will just switch over to the NASCAR deal, so the fans over there will still be able to see all of the drivers.

you talked like you new a lot about fups pros and cons but you dont know rick williams, he works on putting everything together for fups he is the series director and made the series as successful as its been and will continue to be in the future. as for having a vested interest in fups i do i am friends with the promoters from the three tracks that supported fups and do a lot of work on cars that run these tracks so ya i do have a different perspective

Rick Williams is one hard working s.o.b. and the only reason he pours his heart and soul into the FUPS Series is because he cares about short-track racing and above all RACERS. He is not making crap as far as money for all of the hard work and determination he has put into this deal. True, the FUPS Late Model Series has had its ups and downs but these other promoters haven't helped much by competeing with him with the Brighthouse Challenge deal and tracks like Showtime and PGS who won't even give him one date to see how successful it would be. Still, at the end of the year the competitors in that Series were well taken care of. The Truck series is very successful and the Sportsman deal will be too (look at the size of the Sportsman fields at all of the 50's the end of the year when the rumors were swirling about a Series). The only reason that Rick took on the incredible task of adding Trucks, Sportsman and OWM Series this year is because THE RACERS WANTED IT. I WILL TAKE MY 07 SPORTSMAN AND CREW AND BRING IT TO ANY FUPS SPORTSMAN RACE ANYTIME, ANYWHERE IF ANY OTHER TRACK IS INTERESTED IN GIVING US A DATE.
