  • Florida's Don Heckman and Doug Heveron on the pole at the Little 500

Anderson Speedway....Car owner Don Heckman and driver Doug Heveron have set fast time and will start from the pole in Saturday's Little 500 in Anderson IN. Both Don and Doug will be retiring after this event, and want to go out with one more checkered flag.

I gotta brag a little....our family business, Rex Engineering, is one of Don's sponsors. Remember my brother "Tweety 16"? They have the motor from his Super Modified in the car this weekend. I am heading north tomorrow for the race.

If Don and Doug can pull this off, you're looking at the story of the year, regardless of series.

              Don't Know

The times are high. How do they go about qualifying for this race??

They do it just like Indy... Four laps total time... means you have to put four good laps together rather than getting the best one of two like usual time trials... They also start 33 cars, 11 rows of 3 (just like Indy) on a quarter mile track.... It is something to see, although it appears they may not have a full field this year...

Yep, that kid is a driver. He was fast and smooth, but exactly clean. He pounded on some of the competition to get them out of the way.

Too bad we don't have a race like that in Florida. Anderson was a perfect track for it too.

Shane comes to Florida each year with a Dirt UMP Mod. I believe he just started running Sprints and Asphalt a few short years ago. Big win for him.

Rex... sorry to hear about the bad luck with the "Dream Team". Four of Florida's best racin' folk teaming up for the biggest race in Indiana... you all had a lot of us pulling for you guys!

Frass, I had no luck finding a Davey Hamilton shirt. At a NAPCAR race, every driver has their own souvenier trailer. You can get stuff from all the stars like Buckshot Jones and Brett Bodine. At Indy, you could buy a Danica shirt about every 10 feet, but other than a few other name drivers like Kanaan and Helio, there was very little in the way of driver souveniers.
