Had a surprise visit at the ISC Archives the other day by former racer Marty Spengler... Marty raced all over the State from the mid-60s through the late-1970s... He began in six cylinder cars at the old Orlando track at about the same time as LeRoy Porter and Wayne Heckle were starting in the same class... Went on to drive LM for top car owners like Lewis Green and Dencil Chapman... Was fun talking about the old days... Marty is now 69 years old and living in Georgia...

Thanks for another blast from the past. Marty and Henry Pullen put on some classic duals at Eau Gallie Speedway in the 6 cylinders. As I recal they were called early models when the class first became popular. Donnie Tanner was the man to beat in the Tampa area. They were not all that much slowere than the late models and had very large fields. I have a love/hate relationship with your posts they are either great old photos or Obits, I don,t want to see.

When Marty worked at Holler Chevrolet he worked in my department prepping new cars, surprisingly enough you would not have known he raced. I found out when he was replacing the windshield in his 67 Chevelle street car and he said the windshield came out of the race car they were building. Marty and I worked for Dick Darlington, Dick mentored me when I was young, he was a great man to work for.

Great to see Marty again and that hes well. I used to go over to his house off Formosa St. in Orlando and help (watch) him work on his car. I startd running the early model class in 67 and was able to learn alot from him. He is a good guy and a great drver.
