Normally I agree with the boneman but here I must go the other way.I woudn,t go to the DIS short track with a free pass and free reign of the concessions. I find it unforgivable that nascrap chooses to directly compete with the short tracks that constitute the feeder system for their drivers. They didn,t kill enough tracks with their TV coverage and night racing so now they are trying a more direct approach.

I have to agree although it would be nice if this race brought more cars to NSS. It really sucks that they are trying to take away from a little track's biggest income of the year. I was trying to decide if the race would be worth going to, because it looks like it will be boring on the video on the DIS web site. Nascar won't miss my money but I'm not too happy with their methods.

I'd be glad to pass the word on, Frass. When and where is the reunion? Teddy will probably only be in town for the K&N race on the 19th and probably the day before for practice. He'll be in town also for the days around the Rolex 24 as Robbie has told me that they intend to run the Whelen Corvette in some capacity in that event. Me and Woody are good friends, but I don't know the Hill's personally but would be glad to pass the word onto all of them too. Any room for a Florida Sportsman driver who grew up watching the great Modified drivers at Stafford, Riverside, Thompson and Waterford?

I just love Modifieds... I'll watch them anytime, anywhere.

I don't know if it will bring more cars to New Smyrna or not, but the Daytona race does have teams coming to Florida that normally wouldn't. There's a lot of upcoming talent in the K&N Series also. A couple of West coast teams are gonna join the East series in 2013.

Hell yeah Scott. Put in now for the day off. It's on Feb. 22nd, at New Smyrna Speedway from Noon til 5:00, then the Richie Evans Memorial 100 runs at 7:00. Both Woody and Teddy will be in that race.

Vintage Mods will be there, usually about 20 of them, a bunch (usually over 100) former Mod racers from all over the Northeast, and a bunch of the guys are from CT/Mass area tracks. Bugs Stevens, Leo Cleary, George Summers, Ray Miller, Billy Harman, Jerry Dostie, Ron Bouchard, and dozens more New Englanders have been to some, if not all the Reunions. Also car owners like Bob Garbarino, Bob Judkins, Joe Brady, etc all come hang out for the day.

Anyone here if Ryan Preece will be at Speedweeks?

It would be interesting to find out why some teams are racing at Daytona that haven't raced at New Smyrnas in the past, or weren't planing to this year. Possibly because of perceived prestige of racing at Daytona. I don't know how the payouts compare, prize money might be a factor. There could be points available for the Daytona race that apply toward the national championship.
I understand Daytona Int. wanting to be a one stop destination during Speedweeks, but it shouldn't be at the expense of a long standing tradition of racing at New Smyrna.

Of course it may not matter which racers run Daytona, the USAC Midgets and Sprints could easily become the Speedweeks tradition at New Smyrna. I've seen them before and they're a hell of a show.

                          At New Smyrna, add:
                          Tim Russell in his 36
Devin McLeod in, what I believe to be Russells Pro Late
Georgia's Spencer Davis must have a few $$$'s as he is bringinga Super Late, a Pro Late AND a Truck.
Al Emmarino is bringing a Tour Mod from NY
Brothers Marc & Jaxson Jacobs are bringing Pro Lates from Canada. Last year, Marc flipped his car on practice day, but repaired it and ran all week.
David Sear is coming from the San Diego area with a Pro Late.
Danny Church Jr brings a Pro Late from Wisconsin
Ryan Moore has won at least 1 Super Late feature in past years. His Dad, Kelly Moore was a big winner in the older version of the Busch North series. Ryan has relocated from Maine, to Mooresville NC.
Nathan Russell is bringing a Pro Late from PA for the 3rd year in a row. He also runs in the series formerly known as Hooters Cup.

If the tour mods dont show with a field of cars at NSS and suport the daytona race insted it might be a good thing.. The deal has alwase been that the super mods will never run a NSS because of the tour mod deal.
I thing that the supers will outdraw the tour car fans 2 to 1.
The tour cars had better think before they sell out to Bug daddy nascrap.

From what I understand about the Daytona "short track" thing, it'll be the Tour Modifieds and the K&N Series East and West cars - which are more like old BGN/Nationwide cars, and not a Late Model/Super Late Model. The Whelen All-American cars (NASCAR "Home Track" Late Models, I'm guessing) are perimeter-chassis, steel-bodied "Late Model Stock" cars, much like what is run in the Virginia/NC/SC region. So, *if* I got my facts straight, New Smyrna is NOT running the Tour Modifieds on Tuesday night anyways, so that frees them guys up to go over to Daytona and run that show. It shouldn't really affect the (Super) Late Model guys at New Smyrna for the World Series all that much. It *may* affect the crowds, though, probably more out of curiosity than anything. If anything else, the Mod guys might have to bring down two or more cars.

I'll pass the word on, Frass. Great day to have it. By Teddy, I meant Teddy Marsh, not TC. He may be gone after the K&N race on tuesday but I'll ask anyway. Thanks for the info. I'll have to see about the day off. Have already asked for the tuesday for the Daytona deal, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
