  • Northeast loses another Modified racer

Hall of Fame racer Doug Hoffman apparently took his own life on Christmas day. Doug won hundreds of races on both dirt & asphalt, and more recently was Promoter at both Mahoning Valley Speedway, and just finished a very successful first year at the controls of Bridgeport Speedway.

Doug was highly respected both on and off the Speedways, and will be missed greatly. I don't know his exact age, but I'm guessing mid-40's.... far too young to be gone, and in such a tragic way.

This is a BIG loss to the PA/NJ corner of the racing world.

RIP Doug! My thougts and prayers go out to the Hoffman family in this tragic time. I grew up watching and ruttin' for Doug at Flemington. He was always a great guy to the fans and one hell of a driver. I have many pictures of the sweet looking #60over modifieds. I hope he joins the other drivers up there and puts on one hell of a show!

    God speed Doug

Such a shame, the racing world could use more guys like him. One hell of a racer/promoter gone.
