UNOH Battle at the Beach Late Model Rules

Here are some of the rules for the Late Models:

The only engines allowed for this Event will be the Late Model
open/built engine with the 500 CFM 2 Barrel Carburetor per the rule book (same rules in section 20F and 20G) or the GM 88958602, 88958603 and
8895604 crate engines with the 650 CFM 4 Barrel Carburetor per Section 20G of the rule book or the Ford D347SR and D347JR crate engines with
the 650 CFM 4 Barrel Carburetor.
Car Weight ‐ Total 3000 pounds
Car weight ‐ maximum 55% left side (1650 pounds)
(minimum right side 1350 pounds )
GM Crate Engines 88958602, 88958603 and 88958604 will be
permitted and must weigh a minimum total weight of 2950 pounds
with a maximum 55% left side (1625 pounds) (minimum right side 1325
pounds)
Rear Spoiler 54 inches wide x 5 inches high/50‐60 degrees (must be
centered on the rear of the car)
Tread Width maximum 65 inches (75 inches outside wheel bead to
outside wheel bead)
Maximum engine crankshaft height will be 13 inches
Multi‐ piston brake calipers must add 15 pounds per caliber

Looks like a Limited Late Model or a Crate Model, no Supers.

unless they changed the rules you need a perimeter car or strait rail no off set chassis,you need a nascar license,nascar gas can i wanted to run my prolate but it will cost a lot of money

is that possibly a mis-print on the 2nd to last line? It says 13" MAXIMUM crankshaft height? I'm not a nuts & bolts guy, but it seems like they would need a MINIMUM height on the crank. The lower the better, I would think. Raising it would only hurt the chassis roll centers wouldn't it?

Frass thats the point of the rule.....it looks like these rules were originally written for a stock front clip or late model stock chassis.....thus the weight and crankshaft rules.

Good observations. The Virginias still run the Late Model Stock division and most of the tracks are under Nascar sanction. Really about the only type of "Late Model" that Nascar still deals with. so I guess they are hoping cars from Motor Mile, Langley, etc. will make the tow down.
Appears New Smyrna will not be competing for Super and Pro Late Model cars, only the Mods and maybe some fans. Hope both (New Smyrna and Daytona) are successful, although, if the Daytona experiment is only so-so and not extremely profitable, I would not expect Nascar to continue it in 2014.

I was gonna say, I think the "Late Models" for this race aren't what you guys down south are used to ("Super" Late Models). They're more than likely the mid-Atlantic "Late Model Stock" type cars - Virginia, North and South Carolina, etc. Steel-bodied, stock clip.

Fred... it wasn't the point that they HAVE a rule, it just seems like they would mandate a minimum height rather than a maximum. I can see where it would be an advantage to having the engine as LOW as possible (therefore a minimum height rule), but I cant see why anyone would want to put the motor HIGHER in the chassis. Seems to me that would make the handling much worse, not better.

My first post was more of a "here is the motor you will run" thing. This is the section about the cars:

The cars for this Event must comply with either Section 20F (Late Model Stock Car Division) or Section 20G (Mid‐West/West Coast Late Model
Division) respectively, of the NASCAR Whelen All‐American Series Rule Book. Cars running under Section 20F must comply to Section 20F rules with
the adjustments for Section 20F only. Cars running under Section 20G must comply to Section 20G rules with the adjustments for Section 20G only.
These adjustments are the only deviation from each division's rules in the rule book.

As far as I can tell, it is a Late Model Stock, which if my memory serves, used to be truck arms, but the Mid-West/West Coast portion allows tube arms.

Cowl Air Induction opening will not be permitted
Multi‐ piston brake calipers must add 15 pounds per caliber

I might go to watch one night, but I am not taking my car. I have a Limited, and it might fit 90% of the rules, but I am not spending $5,000 to run 1 race.
