Anyone know how the chip rule worked out last night at New Smyrna Speedway?
I see 12 cars showed up but no David Rogers, Rich Clouser, Tim Russel, Patrick Conrad and others.

It turns out that there was no chip after all. After testing numerous combinations of chips and gears, Wayne Anderson was not happy with any of them and said he would not be competitive with a chip. The fastest he ran in testing was 17.60. So after a meeting of all the SLM drivers, it was decided that Wayne would add a 100lbs. (2800 lbs). He then ran a .40 in qualifying without any practice. He fell out of the race, not sure why, but said afterwards that he thought it was fair and competitive at 2800lbs.
The remaining issue is whether or not the other spec motor cars will come back or if Don N will accept this rule into the Sunbelt Series. It was said by most of the drivers there, BJ, Scofield, Wayne, Bowers and others that they will not run another Sunbelt race if they don't change the weight on the spec motor cars. Hopefully the guys that did not show will have a chance to test their cars and decide if they think 2800 is fair. If not we will now have the few SLM's left split into two groups.
I heard that it was some pretty good racing, I was racing in the back so I didn't see first hand, so maybe the 100 lbs will be the equalizer. I was never sure why the motor with the most HP was given a weight break in first place.

Ok look at the field, when was the last time any of these competitors won a race at NSS? And the spec motor guys should gauge themselves off of a test run by these drivers? This was a fashionable rule that NSS implemented without testing. It was stupid to assume that testing wasn't already done. In all reality they knew the testing had already been done but thought they could reinvent the wheel to appease 10 percent of the drivers. I got a steak dinner that says we pull more SLM for our regular SAT night show at Columbia this SAT night than the televised Brighthouse race last Saturday night. 13 is the number and I'll give them the DNS.

18 SLM's at Citrus for a regular 35 lap show, if you also count the 1 DNS
Been getting between 14 to 20 every week this year.

Now who doesn't think that they wouldn't change a rule to accomadate a driver? Someone whines and crys till they get just what they want then they whine and cry some more because now there not happy because there not the fastest car there hell there not even close. We change the rule some more to make them happy. How far do you think Wayne can take it till he has everything his way? I must say I am very happy all the spec drivers stuck together and took a stand against NSS and Wayne all except the 84x which is one of Wayne's house cars so that doesnt count. As far as making another rule to add weight and guage it off what the driver's that were there said how fair does that sound I would possibly value the oppinion of 2 MAYBE 3 of the driver's but who's even heard of most of them. They make a legitiment test and get Russell,Dickies man Choquette, BJ, and naturally Wayne to go over there and try somethings and see what they can come up with as a compromise. If Wayne truelly cared about racing in florida he would try to work with other drivers to make it better for everyone not just him.

go ahead, let him shoot for 14.

too bad that would still be 10 short of the '25 best cars' that Don says he doesn't want any more than.

Man I knew I'd get murdered sooner or later.

OK I'll go ahead and throw in the towel. Wayne can pick up his steak dinner certificate from Steve at Progressive. I'll mail it to him.

                      Todd, any relation to Mike?

                        Testing the chip

This is to Drama and Tim. If those guys that "Boycotted" the race showed up it would of been a testing session. That was the whole purpose of going there Friday and Saturday was to come up with something. But NOOOO. They sat home and now they shouldn't have a say so. Oh, and one more thing. it wasn't Wayne who came up with the adding the weight. it was other drivers to see how that would work. So please don't sit there and bust Wayne on all of this.
Wayne spent alot of money and time for 2 days trying to help out, not just him as you put it, but every driver that has a SPEC motor and every driver that has a 9:1 steel head motor. I went to see what would happen. Well, from what i could tell it was pretty competitive. They were all together fighting for position through most of the race.

I have said all along that it was not personal with Wayne. You can't blame him. He's a racer and you should expect it from him. That's not a bad thing! That's what is great about them.

I would send the dinner to NSS but if it wasn't for Wayne it would have been a 3 car race.

As you said, and I'm positive you are right, Wayne spent a lot of money this past weekend. NSS implemented a rule and Wayne absorbed the cost of testing it. That says everything right there.

The question now is will he continue to run a Florida spec motor? He is going to run whatever is the most competitive, let's see what he thinks is the most competitive now.

if i'm not mistaken, Mike doesn't use an "E" in his last name. which means that while we use alternate spellings for our last names and probably are related, it's not likely to be any nearer than whenever our respective branches of the family immigrated to the US.

i know mine go back at least to the 1700s ( there's a family cemetery east of Moundsville, WV that uses 'my' spelling ), so you couldn't call it 'close'.
