When John Gamble drove for my dad in the late 70s we raced against him some at Barberville and Ocala and we were in one heck of race to the checker flag everytime!
Rance was another one who could do dirt or pavement it didn,t matter. When the big money teams became more prevelant he still ran close with is own equipment. He was one fo a very few to have success at both Lake City tracks even after they paved Ellisville. He will be fondly remembered throughout N. Fla and S. Ga. Godspeed
I had the distinct pleasure of interviewing Rance at Joyce Lankford’s Blast III at Lake City Speedway on March 06, 2011.
Here’s a shot I took of Rance at the event sitting on the RR tire of the #19-Sr. Winged Modified Sedan next to his good friend Ronnie Rohn, inductee & President of the Jacksonville Stock Car Racing HOF.
As many of you are aware Rance was a legendary racer and inductee of both the NDLMHOF (National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame) and the Jacksonville Stock Car Racing HOF with over 700 Feature Wins and 14 Championships in South Georgia & North Florida.
Needless to say, it was an honor to meet him.
