Sportsman $400.00 to win 25 lap race we need you guys

Guys we need you sportsman car's this weekend at Desoto Super Speedway.I spoke with other track owners we need you to come and race at our tracks for the smaller 25 lap races to, help all of the tracks.

With out your surpport on these shows we can't make it work. You all have to show us good will.We spoke last night at our meeting and we all agreed on one thing we need you Saturday night racer's to come and show good faith.

Also I am personally not happy with the trucks not coming to our 25 lap races,I for one need racers to surport this .If you guy's just want a series its not good for me or any other tracks to pay bills and I will have to cancel series races and just run my backbone classes.Everyone has to help each track and stop all the rumors and have fun.I hope I did not talk out of line .See ya at the races John

What you are saying has some truth to it. You do need the support of the racers and fans. This is also a two way street with the track owners supporting the racers. What I mean with this is simple, Post quality payouts in advance and stick to it with amount to win all the way thru the field to the amount to start, Do not stack races on top of other tracks, do a quality tech and have an iron clad set of rules with enforcement of them. These are just a few things that will get you good car count on a weekly basis. Nobody is going to drive by a racetrack to go to another one. Way to many nights with the same classes running at two or more tracks. So until you guys are on the same page it will be hard to have good car count at each track. Having a good payout and posted in advance thru the filed will help also. Guys will not travel unless they know what to expect. You payout good and not stacked on top of one another they will show up in force. 25 lap races for trucks and sportsman should pay $500 to win with a $50 drop to 10th place and $50 thru the rest of the field. You have 50 lap races they need to pay $800 to $1000 to win. You pay they will show in numbers. You also have rules and enforce them you will get better car count. Racers don't travel when there is no tech at certain racetracks and know they can't compete with the cheaters. But if the pay is better and they can cover their travel expenses they will still show. This is the talk out there from a lot of racers and something to think about. We all know that running a racetrack is expensive and a lot of work. We all can appreciate that, but owning and racing race cars is very expensive also. If not reasonably compensated for our efforts then racers are forced to pick and choose the best track to go to that will suit their financial situation. I don't believe the majority of the racers would choose one track over another if these items were addressed and put into play. The fans will start showing more when car count is raised on a consistent basis. We all need the fans! They are the most important! Just my opinion and take it for what it is worth. What would it hurt to give it a try? I really think you would be pleasantly surprised! Thanks for what you do and remember we are not the enemy! We want it to work as bad as you do!

John, you scheduled a 25 lap - $400 to win race on top of Citrus's $1000 to win - 50 lap race... Your telling racers they NEED to come to your race. Why would we??? At your promotor meeting did you guys talk at all about not scheduling on top of each other or was it just a bitch fest about racers not supporting you guys?

How about one set of rules for ALL classes at ALL tracks???

You cant pay more, I understand that, but there are ways you can make it cheaper for us. How about buy 4 arm bands get the 5th free? Not charging for new born babies or kids under 5? You don't make a lady stroking a $300 check for pit passes pour out her half drank can of Pepsi before you let her through your gate....

This "business" for you is a just hobby for most of us, the ball is in your court to make it attractive again.

Mike, I don't know if citrus has had that 50 lap race for 1000 to win posted all year long but i can tell you John has had that date on his schedule from the start of the year. And like everyone on here is saying at least he is trying to ask racers to come instead of not posting and being quiet and not caring. If it has to start with him he needs to open his mouth and ask. I'm sure citrus will get there 20 plus cars but what about the other 20 or 30 sportsmen out there that will not come to citrus this week? And we do agree on one thing all the rules should be the same for sportsmen no matter what racetrack we go to that should have been top priority at their meeting. And about the lady with the pepsi i'm in the dark on that one. 98 Roger Welch

Mike this sounds like a classic case of "being careful of the toes you step on today, for tomomorrow you may have to kiss the ass affiliated with those toes." The problem is those asses are now spending their money elsewhere and are having fun doing it!
