From Lucas Dad Dave: "Its 1:30 Monday morning and Luke is sleeping peacefully as possible, his progress today, Luke regained nearly full consciousness this morning, and pleaded for the removal of his breathing tube. the Doctors said that his blood gasses and breathing strength were ok and the tube cold be removed.

Lukes neck and body are sore everywhere to the point that he cannot muster the strength to move anything. He is thirsty and Fabienne gave him a moistened sponge to wet his mouth, as he cannot eat or drink anything. Doctors said possibly ensure tomorrow, the fortified supplement drink.

Not a scratch on any part of his body but something more like shaken baby syndrome, it was a horrible roll and impact on the light pole. We can see the light but are not out of the woods yet,

We are overwhelmed by the help, good wishes, and the number of prayers we are receiving.
Please keep them coming they are working, the Doctors and RN's from Blake Medical Center ICU say its nothing short of a miracle.

I want to thank EVERYONE that has been with us and holding us close thru the scariest time of our lives, and when we can think more clearly I will thank each and everyone!

    Dave Fabienne Brandon and Luke!

Lets see what today has instore"

      I think...

when we pray and leave it all in God's hand He will never forsake us. Luke is so strong, and his family so loving. He has alot going for him. I am very happy to hear of his progress and I know he will be back at the track soon!
We are all family and even when we fight and argue we all pull together in a time of tragedy. Thats the one reason we cant seem to ever leave this sport. ;-)

Dave, I'm sick to my stomach thinking of what you and your family are going through right now! While you are in my prayers daily, even more so now. If there is anything I can do for you or Luke, don't hesitate to call. God will see you all through this and lift you up!!

            From Dave:
Luke was released from th ICU this morning around noon, He had lots of visitors today, including his high school automotive tech teacher Mark Mullin, New news Luke was fed Jello and ensue by some of the special friends that visited today, we want to thank them. The results of a cat scan with contrast came back today, we spoke with the neurologist and he said that the good news was that Lucas had no bleeds in the brain, the rest of the news was that he had a severe concussion, whiplash, and swelling of his organs, most likely from being tossed like a ragdoll. He also said that Luke's recovery is a minimum of 2-3 months putting us into the holidays. Tomorrow I will be going to his work to talk about disability and Luke returning to work when he recovers.

There are more tests that will begin tomorrow including a hour long MRI, this will tell us loads of information, and I will pass it on. His big brother Brandon, demanded to spend the night at Luke side as he is "helpless" Luke's own words, so that he could listen for Luke whispery calls, as he is unable to push the call button on his own. He still cannot move his head or limbs due to extreme pain.

We want again to express the awesome outpouring of support from our extended family and friends, you all mean so much to us! And a huge thanks to Dalton Ellis for the FB page (Prayers for Luke Cazemiro) We cannot say thank you enough, and Luke wants me to thank everyone that has visited and chatted, he can hear you and process even if he doesn't immediately respond. But he is getting better by the hour.

Thank you for your love, prayer, help, and support!

            Dave Fabienne Brandon and Luke.

            You all are the best!

                More from Dave:
I am so grateful that Luke takes such great care of his health, he refuses to be like he is. Luke with some great assistance was able to stand with the aid of a walker, he took a few small steps, and turned 90 degrees, to sit in an armed chair for about a half hour, and then back to the bed.

His physical therapist says he is making good progress, still waiting for the MRI test. Luke was given the ok to eat processed food, he was thrilled, lol hospital mashed potatoes and ground meatloaf, yummy!

The people at the hospital are wonderful to us, but the people that have posted their words of encouragement on this board, and stopped by the hospital with food, and fruit smoothies for Luke and the family, as well as some special friends that stopped by to pray with Luke are much more wonderful, Lukes Optician even came to the hospital with a selection of frames and fitted him for glasses that had been broken. Wow!

Being such a proud person I find it emotionally difficult to accept help from my friends, and i now understand that it is ok, it makes the persons helping just as happy as the one being helped.

                Thank you, the Cazemiro family.
