Why post results?

What obligation do tracks have to publish the results of their races? When should they be made public? As soon as possible so the critics have ammunition?

If it was me, I'd wait several days to post them. Pick a day and stick with it. I'd make it a good long wait, 3-5 days for example. If someone wants instant results bad enough, then they can buy a ticket and see it for themselves.

If the results come out on a Wednesday for example, maybe it will start the conversation for the upcoming weeks activities.

So waddya think?

I respectfully disagree, Boneman. I live in Port Richey and when I'm not racing it's just not practical that I can get out every Saturday night to ALL the tracks I'm interested in. Closest track is 45 minutes away and after that an hour or more. Does that mean I'm a cheap s.o.b. that won't spend money at the speedway? Hardly. Most race fans have family obligations that prevent them from getting out every week. We still want to know what's going on though. Information keeps interest and no information, no interest. Take Bronson for example, there is no place to get ANY information about that track except from Facebook and even there they don't post complete results. As a result they get no cars, no crowd and are never even discussed on KARNAC except for the occasional negative post. Sundays are usually down time for most people and a great time to see what happened last night. Wednesday not so much and you've probably forgotten by then. Citrus gets that. Maybe that's why they get great car counts and good fan attendance. They seem to do everything right there for the racer and the fan. To survive over time (Since the 50's?) you have to take care of both. Out of sight, out of mind....

it is free press for them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, and should make people want to come and watch!!!! now what you are talking about is a track that has 3-4 cars per class, people will see that and never go. why dont you ask the tracks to chisel the results in stone, then take a pic of that and post it, that should take 3-4 days. you are living in the past buddy...I would send my race results out to anyone or any place that would post them, that is just commen sence and good business.

Being that it is extremely difficult for me to get to the tracks I like getting the results as soon as possible.

Have to agree with Scott, Chevy and Dave on all accounts. Years ago we had the racing newspapers which you purchased at the track for 50 cents to a buck, or better yet by subscription. (usually received mine on Tues)You could check every single one of your tracks results as well as upcoming events. Now we have (as much as I dislike) the web which gives us our info. My case my mil lives not far from Punta Gorda, we in the Orlando area, so when we go and spend time with her its nice to get the results from my area tracks. Without the tracks posting I have to sit back and guess. I, at the present time can see absolutely no reason why results should not be posted. Time frame Fridays on Sunday, Saturday on Monday. After all the fans do come into play with this matter. What kind of crowds would other sports draw if they didn't report results, standings or when playing? You have to advertise your track and the more info a track can put out there, especially for free, the better the crowds and car counts. Fans do travel to different tracks as well. Really too bad the local papers don't report the tracks, guess their too busy at the soccer games. Boneman, there is no obligation for a track to do anything, it's just good business sense,.I find all the tracks I follow doing a pretty good job. Hope they keep up the good work.

Communication

Is something that helps close the gap. When i race any given sat. night i like to see what happened at other tracks. I like to see who won, got dqued, fast times, and the rest of the information that people want to see. Communication is what gets you to the track and what fills the stands. Bone man......Talking with folks at showtime last night proved that communication breakdown is the reason the sprints arent running. They wanted to draw the big crowds that the school busses and the novelty races bring in and introduce them to the Bad A*$ sprints. I know that there was $$$$$ concerns but when you pulled in there with a strong car count you could have talked with YOHO. Just an example of the Power of communication. Yoho needs a P.R. man...............John Chance did it for Citrus and I believe he helped make things better....hell he not only posted on Citrus web site but also on the forums and even published it in the local paper. i know im going a little off topic.............but posting results is communication.

All racetracks should have the results and a press release covering the nights races available the following day. It's common business practice to advertise your product and increase the advertising budget during economic turn downs or when competition increases from other businesses. A press release is a FREE way to advertise on MULTIPLE websites.

You have to market your drivers in the press releases. When fans can connect with drivers and follow them week by week, you will see your racetrack profit increase by fan attendance and concession sales.

At Punta Gorda I have about 60 miles to drive home and most Saturday nights the nights results are up by the time I get home. Its usually on FB, Karnac and my e-mail. Now thats dedication!

As a kid, there was no Internet, no Facebook, NOTHING but the racing weekly papers. I couldn't WAIT til Thursdays, running home from school knowing my Gater Racing News was in the mailbox. Read it from cover to cover, still have most of them, and STILL read them. "Stock Car Racing" came once a month, and that's how I would catch up with the rest of the country

We didn't have 'instant gratification', but still wanted it as quick as I could get them. This era is different. We have to LOOK for it, rather than it being brought to us in a mailbox. When we spend the time to look, we expect to find something to read. When it isn't where we are looking, we get frustrated.... sometimes even pissed.

Some tracks are excellent at the 'new ways', some not so good, and some are horrible (insert a track name that starts with B). So far it's working at Showtime, but everyone having to guess, every couple of days what the hell is going on, will wear it's course out.

Sorry Rex.... we don't disagree on many things, but I think results being available to the interested (not to say they will all will THROW them at us), but for the interested, it should be made available.

UNLESS....... it's an embarrassment to tell the truth.

Right or wrong? I don't know,but something that did work for a time, at old Naples Speedway for about a year,they had a live radio show set up at the track,they always started the radio show off with last weeks main events and the winners,then did a few interviews and then the heatraces with a good build up for the mainevents,you had to come to the track ,you could get there late and get in for $2 off [there was intermshion before mains] or wate tell next week to hear who won. Stands were pretty full that year.

I dont get to go to the races as often as I would like. Neither do I have your money Rex where as you can afford to go every week. I hope you are just kidding about this. Most people want to see the results ASAP. When I had my website I made sure of that. It is like any sports, people want to see as soon as they can if they happen to miss watching it. There has been times when I have missed a Nascar race and as soon as I got home i'm on the internet to see where Jr has finished. There is no way I could wait until Wednesday. If this were to happen I and i'm sure others would lose more interest in the sport.
