  • ARCA Racing at "The Rock"

It was good to see racing return to Rockingham Speedway. It was also good to see one of our own local racers, Alli Owens make the race. Alli qualified 22nd out of 51 cars. She did a fantastic job in the long 312 mile race to finish 15th. Alli's next race is Pocono Raceway, June 10th.

Was you actually at the track? I'm just curious as to how the facilities and racing were. We use to stop there some years ago and watch the Busch and Cup races there. I really enjoyed the racing and track. It wasn't very fancy and was in the middle of nowhere but the racing was good. Hope it much success.

I wasn't there but I was in contact with people that were and they said it one of the best tracks they've been to.

      I hope NASCAR returns there.

I'll be getting photos that were taken at Rockingham and I'll email you a few.

The INEX Thunder Cars ran at The rock Saturday and St. Cloud's Brandon Thomson took the win...

I've been there 3 times and had a blast each time. First 2 were in the infield, and man does it get LOUD in there. The sound bounces off the walls back toward the infield and there is no relief until a caution comes out. It is the ONLY place I've ever used earplugs in my life.

I hope they make some money up there and are able to keep it going (it takes mucho dinero just to open the gates at a place that big).

I was just curious how the track was. Sound's like it was fixed up some. I doubt Nascar ever goes back but would be nice.
Hey Jerry, Have you ever been to Oswego and sat in the front stretch stands? It's got metal roofing, sides and back. It's the only place I've been that actually hurt my ears. I will quite often wear ear plugs but one day I didn't have them with me. I never sat there again and always sat on the backstretch after that.

I've only been on the backstretch at Oswego. I can only imagine how loud it would be under the covered stands at The Steel Palace.

Nashville is pretty loud too... the roof vibrates!
