I think a lot of us are agreeing...but don't know it.

I know several in all classes....that I've never seen win a single race...yet they are there every week...

They're also there every time the call goes out to pack the track, or park in front of the stands to meet the people......or will stoop down to help a child into the drivers seat of their car to have their picture taken.

I agree...winning isn't always about what class you're in or how many points you've racked up...or how many times you've taken the checkered. It's more about how many kids couldn't get to sleep the entire night, because they were too damn excited about going to school the next day and telling all their friends THEY SAT IN THE SEAT OF A RACE CAR!!

It ain't always about the class you're IN.....sometimes it's about the class you HAVE.

Razpewton, you are dead spot on. What people, promoters included fail to realize that to get fans you have to appeal to children, if children dont want to go to the track chances are the adults wont go either. To a 6 year old, they dont know the difference between Todd McCreary, Rex Hollinger, or Tony stewart. In their eyes we are all racers. They truly cherish the autographs we lowly drivers give and the attention we give also.

Back in 2004 I had 500 shirts made and had the announcer at tracks throw them out whenever he had free time. One could not understand the amount of interest this generated. A t shirt i had 5 dollars invested in would have both kids and adults tripping over each other to try to catch. There needs to be more fan interaction from all drivers. Pre race autograph sessions work wonders.
