Every month there are a couple dozen race car drivers in Florida who have a good month.

In deciding on the Pandora Jewelers 'Inside Florida Racing' Driver of the Month, we are looking for that one driver who had a great month a stepped out ahead of the field.

These are drivers who were brought to our attention at Real Racin USA by promoters, media and fans.

We are sure there are drivers that we have not heard about or who have done exceptional and no one outside their own track knows about it.

To win this award you have get noticed.

If you know a driver that is having an exceptional year, or even a exceptional month, let us know. When your favorite driver wins a race or accomplishes something outstanding, use this message board and let people know.

This award is not a popularity contest but drivers, their families and fans need to let people know about good things happening, otherwise Rob Elting, CeCe Brooks, Carol Wicks, Rick Anges, Bill Green, Scott McAllister and the other media people who make the decision about the Pandora Jewelers Driver of the Month may not be aware of a great driver pick for the month.

And remember in January 2009 the Pandora Jewelers Driver of the Year will be presented the awesome Driver of the Year ring (appraised at over $3700)that will be cherished for a lifetime.

April's winner will be announced on Monday night's INSIDE FLORIDA RACING show 7-9 PM on Real Racin' USA. Guests for the show include Tim Bryant, promoter of Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, home of the Snowball Derby. Also appearing will be Blaze Martin from the TBARA, Billy 'The Kid' Ausburn from Trackside Tonite (with a MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT)and other news makers from around the state.

    Go Prescott!

He's got his car dialed in and ready for the Southern Sportsman to return. It's going to be interesting. But then again, so is Seroki, Fieny, Gainey(Nevin) and now Ray Wheeler has thrown his money in the pot. He's a good racer that shows great sportsmanship towards his competitors. A winner in my book.

My vote,,, as if it matters, goes to whoever has the LEAST amount of money in their car and is still competitive. All you racers pumping thousands of dollars into your cars and dominating every week against nobody in lower classes really don't deserve to be listed. Sorry but this is my opinion and a few others that we wont mention.

In that case I would like to nominate every racer at Columbia. You just hit every one of them on the head! They are all about heart and passion for the sport. Not money. We at Columbia are proud to be a part of their show.

I guess they didn't like the 2 nominations for Mark Whitener either. Looks like it's geared towrd the support classes, as there are very few nominations for the upper classes.

In the end I never liked something like this. There are to many drivers that aren't on the list. And as for having one driver of the year in the state of Fla. and Rookie of the year for the state. Well I feel the same way. No one person is that good. Drivers of the month or year should be at each track in each class. Along with Rookie of the year in each class at each track. Or in each Series. NOT state wide. And I for sure don't like web sites that have fans vote on line.

It's a good idea Rick, but it's up to each track to determine that... and I don't see any local tracks stepping up to the plate with anything for their own guys (girls).
Another thing that could be tough about each track naming their own... it could be perceived as either:
                  A) Track favoritsm
                  B) A popularity contest

I wish there were some kind of ranking system that takes into account:
Total entries for a specific class
                  Starting spot -versus- finishing spot
Laps run in the feature race

For example, is it tougher for Donnie Williams to win a 15 lap, 8 car feature from 8th spot, or is it tougher for Charlie Staats to win a 20 car, 20 lap race from the pole?

For me, I'm impressed by drivers that can win at multiple tracks, and even more impressed if they can do it in multiple divisions. Especially if the races they won (or did well in) had a lot of talent that they beat that night. Looking at the list provided, Wayne Morris racing in 2 classes at 3 speedways is more impressive than some guy in Road Warriors that runs only 1 track.

There were MANY other drivers considered, over 30 others in fact, including Mark Whitener. The above list is the finalists as determined by the the media panel.

Go ahead Frasson, say it. "How could the winner of a single junker feature like me be considered a finalist?" Smart off too much and I'm not inviting you to my coronation OR to the after party!

I dont see how you can even compare drivers in supporting classes. In those classes "He who spends the most, WINS" at least in the upper classes they all spend a ton and not the same guy wins all the time. Driver of the month for supporting classes is a complete waste of time and they shouldnt even be nominated.

What are the upper classes besides late models and sprints?

thats it in my opinion. Dont get me wrong, I am all for the supporting classes being that is all I will ever drive myself but you cant compare drivers unless you put them in equal cars. ie Iroc cars.
