This decussion is not about starting a new class it about taking everything that everyone has in make it work together. You start changing the rules or making them then once agian everyone starts spending money again and for me I just don't have it.

I agree, the discussion is about finding common ground.

      - we all buy tires, so the switch over to the groove tires is a non-issue (other that the complaints by well-funded teams and tire sellers)

      - all of the big money motors are gone through on a regular basis and more often than not during the off season, a great time to switch motor rules for people who get motors built on a reular basis

      - the little money guys who are skimping on parts or who cant afford the high dollar stuff now have the ability to build a motor on more common grounds

Dont get me wrong, "budget" is a very relative word - there will always be someone at the low end, and someone at the high end. Its about finding the largest target group in the middle as the "average".

In my opinion, trying to cater to everyone is part of the problem.

"Sure, bring your tires, we dont care if they are better (or worse) than what our local racers use."

"Big motor? Sure, we'll think of something so you can race with us against our crate motors."

All a load of BS in the "big picture" to the health of local circle track racing.

Again, the key word is "target group" - the group of racers in the middle with the largest chance of creating the maximum number of racecars in the pits on a saturday night.

Gee almost sounds like I am trying to come up with a buisness plan!

A car from another track would not have to run Goodyears you can run whatever tire you have. (8 inch) It was also stated they were going to do a test with a couple of modifieds on treaded tires to see if there is a big difference in speed or handling. I commend the folks at Citrus for looking for ways to build there car counts and trying to lower the cost of racing there. I have no problem with treaded tires if they are more durable and you don't have to replace every week to be competitive.
If you want, i can take a picture of one of my right sides that have at least 6 spray marks from marking the tires after qualifying. Oh, and when they had 5 spray marks on them, I won that night. There were two guys that started in front of me that had new tires on as well. Hopefully citrus realizes this and switches to the treaded tire. The cars will slow down a tad compared to slicks, but the thing is, after 4 weeks or so on the tires, the times will be the same as from week one.

How would you like to run what you have now, and be competitive against someone who has twice the amount in their motor as you. Oh, and as an added benefit, you dont have to replace tires hardly at all. Thats what a hard treaded tire will do.

            Calres,

These treaded tires are essentially the same tires as the ministocks have always run except obviously the size (15" vs. 13"). We got so much life out of those tires it was silly. You still had racers that just had to spend money and thought they needed new tires every 3 weeks, and we still beat em with 3 month old tires.

I don't mind treaded tires I went to the track website you listed and looks like the super lates are on treaded also. I finally broke down and save my money and baught a good open motor last year but I have no problem with the treaded tires and go with them in a second yes I might stuggle with my engine but get 4 or 5 tour races out of one set would be great. that alone would save me $500 dollors a race. Now all your spending is entry fee, pit passes and fuel. I'm really leaning towards the treaded tires for the mods then the racer wouldn't have to buy anything just a set of tires that they would mormally buy anyways.

And thats the great thing. Run the motor you have, nothing to change with that and just run treaded tires which last longer. Then, if you need to replace the motor, you dont HAVE to build a big motor to keep up. Switching to treaded tires pays for itself in two weeks over running soft slicks. Also, the class is more competitive.
