As for Balough, I would agree that the 112 was his most often used number, and had a lot of success.

However, most Northerners saw gary's biggest wins in the 73 car. 3 of his 4 Syracuse wins were in the maroon 73 cars. The later versions were gorgeous Grant King built cars.

Balough drove a ton of different numbers... Remember how dominant he was at OSW back in the early-90s with Pee Wee Griffin's black #3?

They pronounce more of a Nar-du-seee , rather than the Nar-du-chi that I'd always heard.

Not trying to correct, as much as passing on something that threw me for a loop also.
The man most commonly acclaimed as the Flying Greek in New England was Johnny Georgiades. He really was of Greek ancestry. Drove #87 for many, many years. According to one of my dear friends Dave Dykes, Ron Narducci was known as "Top Wop" because of his Italian heritage.

              Red Carr - Al Fini

"The Racin' Mason" - Jeff Stevens
"The Outlaw" - Ted Chalmers because he always wore black.
              Jim Cash - Jim Ashe
"Punky" - Howard "Punky" Caron was one of the most exciting racers you could ever watch Never a dull moment when he was on the track.

                Mr Berti,

                Jocko was Chauncey
                Jap was Anthony

Do you remember the original "Jalopy King" at Riverside. ? (Tuesday night programs.)

To all others; How about the Flintstone Flyer ?

To put a reverse spin on this topic there was a famous driver who later settled in Florida and had an automotive connection with race tracks who would go to fist city with those who called him "chief".

Have to think about the question for awhile. Just wanted to let you know that the memory wheel keeps turning. I watched Pete Corey and Bill Wimble have many battles at the Stafford half miler when it was dirt, prob the mid sixties. Seems as though Jeep Hebert always ran third to these two guys. Great racing.

Anybody remember "The Caveman" from OSW back in the mid-1980s.. I'm sure Nerone does... He was a hoot!
The "Caveman" your talking about has got to be bomber driver Ralph Jones. He was fun at the slot car tracks too. Anyone seen him lately ?

                            Flintstone Flyer

Long before Mike Duval, Todd Gibson was the Flintstone Flyer. Todd had that nickname in the 1960's, painted on the side of his super modified roadsters.

Thanks so much, that photo of Jeep is so awesome. I know his cars were under powered but he always put on a great show at Stafford.
