As far as i can tell you can drive into the back with as few people as you want, as long as you pay the 85$ for 4 people plus the spot. People arriving later can get their bands at the table and walk in to the drive-in parking area. 2 weeks ago the guy next to me showed up alone, but the rest of his group arrived later.Originally posted by Frasson118 View PostDrive-in parking is very popular at every track that has that option.... done it at 6-8 short tracks, and infield at about 10 Nascar tracks. Not ONE of them had a Minimum Passenger rule.
I've had groups of 20-30 people meet me at Volusia knowing i had a fence spot, and they would have a place to go once they arrived. I'd get there early, get the spot, everyone else would arrive as they could. If this had been the rule there, ZERO of us would have been there.
Scott.... On paper, your idea makes sense. In reality, it just doesnt work out that way.
Robert.... you just took away one of the big attractions of driving 2 hours, and past several other tracks, to come to Showtime. For me, it's no-show time.

I think Robert will honor the rules from what ever track you run. Only because of such short notice. Lets all show him we will show up first. He will then make rules fair to everyone. He already said in his driver meetings no one will run away with the show if you win two in a row or pull away from the field they will indeed look hard at your car.

Tires will be 8" treaded hoosiers i talked to Jay the tire guy and he said he will have tires for the sportsmans. Hope this helps. Also robert said no slicks and you may run the goodyear tires if your coming up from pgs but they cant be new stickers.Last edited by RogerWelch; 07-24-2012, 10:27 AM.

Luke.... am I looking at this correctly? I can pay for my car & 4 people (even if I'm alone), and whoever wants to join me and ALSO pay to meet me back there??? Such a DEAL....
Volusia did it right (if your gonna charge at all.... most tracks don't). They charged $10 per vehicle, plus the per-person admission, with no guarantee of a front row parking spot. Once they're filled, park in the field behind the front line. Lots of people, myself included, would get there early, get a spot, then all your friends join you there.
I'll be DAMNED if I'm handing over $85 to see ANY race in Florida. Hell, the whole weekend at the Snowball Derby ain't that much....

No no, not what I meant....Say you pay the 85$ and drive in alone. When your group shows up 3 of them are going to get their bands for "free" (because you paid for them already) and then they will pay you. You may want to call and absolutely verify but that's how I understand it.Originally posted by Frasson118 View PostLuke.... am I looking at this correctly? Man, I hope he has some rules together before August 11th. The multi-disc super clutch that is allowed at Punta Gorda (only) is a BIG ADVANTAGE, especially at a track as Flat and Short as Showtime. 10 lbs less rotating weight at the end of the crank is HUGE for accelerating off the corner in a limited horsepower class like Sportsman. It would suck to have to put up $800.00 to buy this set up to be a competitive car in the class. I just don't have it. It wouldn't be just one car running away, just the PGS cars. Better throw that in if you've got one Roger...

I called at 11:55 and was informed i had to wait 5 minutes and call back. I started calling at 12:00 sharp and the line was busy, so i started rapid redial, after 108 redials i got an answer and was informed i got the last spot left. It is obvious that some spots are reserved in advance, you can't sell 45 spots in 15 minutes, that's not enough time to field that many calls. Anyway, anyone that wants to stop by, i'll be at space #17.Last edited by Trash Inturn4; 07-25-2012, 06:11 PM.Doug Wachtel

Come on over Don, it would be nice to see you again. I used to always tell anyone who wanted to meet at the track, that i will be sitting with the "Trash in turn 4" I might have to change my name to 'Beautifulpeople Onthebackstretch'

....probably wont get a Pit Pass since we need 4 general admissions with our space.

Hello:
I'm glad all you sportsman guys showed up. It was a hell of a good race program and the Sportsman put on a great show. Thanx Roger.
The track is still going through growing pains so give them a little slack. I've been to every event and will start a blog about Showtime. The crowds have been nothing short of phenomenal (and huge to). I've been going to short track stock car races since the early sixties and I can tell you that for some reason Showtime is really turning out some very memorable races. In four weeks they already have several moments worthy of historical note. This is the place to be right now and I'm not kidding.
Have a Wonderful day Everybody!!!
