Sportsman at Showtime

I don't know. It's all speculation since right now Sportsman are not scheduled to run at Showtime and there are no rules. The best we have is Robert telling everyone on Facebook on Tuesday that Sportsman "may" be coming to Showtime and that he was looking at rules (which ones are anyones guess) and that he was going to make a decision about this "soon". It sounded like he was going to base his decision on last night's car counts. That included 16 Mods and around 10 cars in each of the other classes (except kids class which had two cars). There is really no way to tell which way he is going to go on this. That being said, 6.20's would be a little too low to go with an "open" motor. The lowest I would go with would be at least 6.50's, but higher would be better. The 4 barrel would make no difference on your R.P.M. band. That's all dependent on gear, cam profile, and rotating weight. Another thing to consider is that currently no track in the state allows the use of a 4BBL on an Open Sportsman motor in their rules. It's the Spec Holley 650 cfm for the Crates and the Holley 4412 500 cfm 2 BBL with the Open motor. However without any rules it's anybody's guess at Showtime. I'd go 6.66, 6.83 or 6.86 at Showtime with an Open motor and the 2 BBL. It really depends on how hard you want to twist your motor.

It's posted on showtimespeedway.us and on Showtime Speedway Facebook page. Good job Roger, thanks to you Sportsman will now race at Showtime. Now it's time to show Yoho what I have been telling him since April. Sportsman, even with just 6 days notice and no rules (yet??), will draw more cars than any other division. I'm even laying it out there that Sportsman will outdraw or match the Late Models car count. Time for everyone to come out and show them what Sportsman racing is all about. Again, great job Roger.Last edited by scottgarrity07; 07-22-2012, 05:54 PM.

Hey Cory, glad to see your having fun with the Mod! I'd love to come but I just can't throw away the nearly $120 I prepaid for hotel rooms (Hotwire). I also have a friend over on the East Coast that has rearranged things in his life to help me this weekend. I can't (nor would I ever consider) stiffing him. There will be a ton of Sportsman cars there even without me. I'll just be there for the next one! Good Luck on your next run!
