  • The Lost Trophy's of Emil Reutimann

Buzzie got a call the other day from one of his dads old neighbors about a box they found in the loft of their old garage. Nobody knew the box contained some of Emil Reutimann's old trophys from the early 1950-60's.
Some are from Speedway Park, SaraMana, Sunshine, Golden Gate, Sunbrock,Tri City,Winter Haven and Dade City Speedway's
The trophy's are now at Buzzie's shop in Zepherhills.

A lot better than the plastic crap they give out as trophies now... I bet Buzzie and the family are happy as all get out to get these! Emil was the best of his day...

I was thinking the same thing Dave. I'll bet that's real marble, real wood, and actual metal for the cups, cars, and people on top. Pretty cool find.

I understand your dismay about what you call plastic crap, however, the pretty metals and metal tops are not made today like they were back in the day. Its not the trophy shops nor the tracks fault.

This is so cool; getting those trophies back has got to be a big surprise blessing to the Reutimann's family!!!

Don't forget the most important part, no made in china sticker on the bottom.

              Very cool find.

Now that was a true blessing of a find. That would be like cleaning my dad's office closet and finding an old manuscript he put aside. A treasure for the rest of your life and then your children's. I am very happy for Buzzie and his family to have gotten back these beautiful trophys.

And yes I know, today's trophys aren't always the best, but it is the best that the tracks can do alot of the time. They aren't really that cheap to buy even though some think they look very cheap. We could always give out beautiful ribbons for trophys and then we would have no argument as to what they are made of.

But I am very happy for you Buzzie and your family. I can only think how I would feel to find like I say a hidden manuscript of daddy's. A treasure I would treasure always.

                  Man thats neat!

I bet ya I saw him get a lot of those at Saramana and the Gate and maybe sunshine. Emil was my hero. I bet that made your day Buzzie. I know it would have mine... I look at Emil's car every day! It lives on my desk.

The "Powerball" topic about the winning Ticket being sold in Zephyrhills reminded me about this from one year ago. I always enjoyed watching the Reutimanns race or talking with them about racing. If a Reutimann bought the winning Powerball ticket it would be good luck 2 years in a row. I'm sure that they considered themselves very lucky to have these trophies returned to their family last year.

My same thoughts Dave when I saw them. Took the words right out of my mouth!
