Bowman Gray is Awesome. The feeling is pure electric. Also they allow you to take in food and small coolers. You will have as much fun watching people as you will watching racing because they take there favorite drivers and the drivers they hate to extremes.
You'll love it up there, Jerry. I've been twice and have just been blown away.
A few notes:
1. Be sure to get there pretty early to get the best seats. I recommend sitting in turn 1 because you'll be out of the sun early.
2. Notice how they do qualifying for cars that are low on points -- they just use their practice times.
3. Also notice how small (compared to the rest of the seating) the alcohol section is. Also, do your tailgating beforehand.
4. Aside from the great personalities and longtime rivalries, I think guys like to race there because they often race double features. Two paydays with a full field inversion. The same car won't win twice, and the slower guys have a good chance.
5. They really get the 4-cylinder class right there. You'll see some moves that can only be classified as insanity. Fierce competition, and because the slower cars start up front, you won't see a runaway leader.
Also, Kermit's Hot Dog House is very close to the track and has been around since the trolley. Great dogs.
Thinking on doing this with youse guys.........But I can't leave till Friday am. have an all day class on the 31st of May in Ocala. Saturday show for sure and then off to Pigeon Forge for a few days. Jerry you should have my cel # and Harry you can message me if you don't have mine...

RIP Jack Smith and Kim Brown. Many thanks for all you have done for our sport.
I bet BGS was packed. An hour south of Winston-Salem, the premiere race series in the world is holding their "All Star Race". So goes the theory of having to compete with Nascar on Saturday night.
In my humble opinion, the best asphalt racing action seems to take place on flat, 1/4 mile or so ovals (ex. Hialeah, Sunshine, Bowman Gray). Gives the fans everything they buy a ticket for and does not cost the racers a fortune in equipment (except, of course, body panels and tie rods!).
