I had the good fortune to again visit this huge dirt half mile. The fastest line is against the outside wall all the way around.

They had 2 LM divisions there last night (traveling) with one group starting 22 cars and the super lates staring 31 cars in their features.

great races! The only bad part was they had some of their regular classes, sportsman (7), streetstock (5) and young guns (4).

What the heck! Very low car counts in those divisions.

Was a great night and racing as in both LM divisions there were top 5 finishers that came from deep in the field so it was not follow the leader.

The super late race was won by a pass off of turn 4 coming to the checkers.

I will check out Lernerville next friday.

Any suggestions for other tracks in this area?

Where you at in Pennsylvania? I'm not *too far* from there. Painesville (Lake County) in Ohio is close to PA (asphalt 1/5th mile); Sharon (PA) (dirt) is not too far.

Port Royal and Selinsgrove are good bets if youre willing to drive to Central PA...Huge tracks specializing in 410 sprints.

Don Martin's Lernervile Speedway is an awsome track the 50/50 is almost over a grand every week. us the Bathrooms in turn 4 and you can see the pits. Oh and the people that sit in turn 4 reserv those seats 1 year I wanna go up for the firecracker untill then I'll have to rely on sportsplusvideo.com

Erie Speedway in Erie Pa. is a great asphalt track. 4/10 mile and high banked. NASCAR sanctioned track with NASCAR amenities.

I can vouch for how nice Lake Erie is.... state of the art track.

If you could pull it off, I would do Lernerville on Friday, Lake Erie on Saturday, and Eriez Speedway on Sunday. I believe it's pretty close to Lake Erie also.

Jerry, problem I see with that is 7 classes and only one really has a full field. 3 different Late Model classes or is it 4 with the sportsman being a limited type also. I keep preaching fewer classes will lead to less dilution of the driver pool and contribute to full fields of cars.

Yes there are less-than-full fields, but I don't only 1 class had a lousy car count. Sure, I'd rather see 120 in 4 classes too, but seeing 7 classes with a total count of 40 is a waste of time.

Still, things can be, and ARE in most cases, worse than this... plus it's a SUNDAY.... how can you go bad with a 3 day racing weekend???

Winger... you got me curious about what a "sportsman" is up there. I did some looking and was pretty surprised. They appear to have a Dirt Mod Mini Stock chassis to them, but I saw full bodied cars, and IMCA style body, a DIRT style body, and 1 even had a wing on top. Definitely NOT another cookie-cutter class. If I get to the other computer tomorrow, I'll post a few pics. This class looks kinda cool.

Names of classes can get very confusing because different tracks use different names and what is a "sportsman" at one track may be a "limited late model" at another or a small block modified, or a type of sprint car. Tracks normally run an economical version of their top class and call it a sportsman class. So you see sprint cars in PA with that designation, etc., etc.
I almost said they had 4 classes of Late Models and then I decided the sportsman may be something different.

I thought I was gonna see a DIRT style Sportsman, which is a very limited version of a typical DIRT Modified. For some reason, that part of the NY/PA border never took hold of the typical Northern Mods, although IMCA and E-Mods are pretty popular.
