  • Racetrack Advertising

I keep reading about people suggesting advertising short track racing in Florida. The cost of advertising is very expensive and there is a wide variety of media sources as compared to the old days. Gone are the days of three tv channels and a town newspaper. Now we have hundreds of tv channels and newspapers are floundering ever since that internet thing came around.

Let's hear some good ideas about where to reach the most people through advertising.

I made a facebook page for PGS fans and Linda and I keep it updated fairly well. I also made a group for the drivers.

Last season I put flyers at the visitors center by PGS

I actually heard a commercial on 106.5 (while in Tampa) yesterday for DeSoto. Really made me want to go. wife didn't like that idea too much, though.

TV ads reach the most people. The best bang for your buck would be TV ads with Brighthouse during the Cup race and on Bay News 9 or Central Florida News. Brighthouse gets some limited ad time locally during network programs so why not try to reach the NASCAR fans? Some ads on SPEED would work too. Limited area TV ads don't cost that much. All the ambulance chaser lawyers have 'em. As for print, how about an ad in Monday's newspaper put in the sports page right next to the NASCAR results? If I ran Orlando or New Smyrna I would have one of those fold out color brochures in the tourist trap info kiosks at the hotels in Orlando and Daytona Beach. With radio you can do a barter deal. Put up Billboards at the track and ads in the program and have a Radio 1-0-whatever night and give the station some tickets in exchange for commercials and promotion on air. Best part is if you are a savvy negotiator this won't cost you a dime.
