  • New Smyrna Saturday

Since I had to work in Daytona Saturday decided to go over and catch the show at NSS on the way home... Well, 52 cars in 8 divisions and 16 of those were Pro Lates... That 100 lap mess took about two hours to run and featured some pretty good racing early on but eventually a whole bunch of torn up race cars... Then the lights went out while they were racing with just a few laps to go and everybody managed to get stopped without incident... Was good to see Jamie Skinner get the win after all the problems that team has been having... Normally they never make it past hot laps, but they were the best Saturday night... The rest of the show was just plain awful... No cars, no competition... spent most of my time in the bar with Ralph Foss watching the Cup race and I don't even drink! Was impressed by those two guys running side-by-side in the Strictly Stock race though and with Jonathan Murphy getting his first career win... Nice job!... Funny thing was the crowd was pretty good but most left after the Pro LM race....

It was a good first half of the race, NSS just dragged it out a bit too much! Shouldn't have ran as many caution laps, but what can ya do about it now. There was some greedy moves going on, but I had a fun time with my first experience of NSS!

NNS has the best lines of any speedway around

100 lap mess, what are you talking about, great competition by the pro late models.
Would drive miles to see that. Going to watch sprint cup at the bar is a shame as Richmond stinks compared to NSS.
Infact Bristol stinks compared to NSS. I mean it's a drag race to the corners at NSS,
all of Nascar is some boring 3400 pounds cars going in a gradual circle. NSS has the best lines of any speedway. PERIOD. Coupled with 2750 lb cars and it's on!

Daniel Keene doing some ferocious driving...and I mean that in a good way. But in the end well done by skinner!

        don't over-analyze

I think people are being too critical at times, I was at New Smyrna Saturday night, and as a casual fan and supporter of short track racing in the area I really enjoyed the evening! I thought the competition in the PLM race was very interesting and venue provided a great show. I'm looking forward to enjoying the next event.

cody blair was the fastest pro late. until the track repetitively told him how to restart. first it was to slow then u cant fire until the red line on the wall. i have raced a long time i always thought the leader started the race . not at nss. then when skinner jumped the start that was ok. then to add insult to injury we got dq for rocker arms. after talking to 4 rocker arm manufacturers all of them told me the same thing. rocker arms are designed to be to be rated under a load all of them. crane told me they have a approved rocker by rickey brooks but i dont see it in any rules .it will also read high with no load.bottom line we got screwed again.

I think the question sure be, if there were no pro lates then how would the racing had been and the crowd.
