    Attention Open Wheel Modified Drivers:

On May 12th at Punta Gorda Speedway,
the Open Wheel Modified will run 100 Laps
    with a $100.00 entry Fee.
There will be a mandatory pit stop at lap 60.
The teams will be able to have a 3 man pit crew (driver does not count) that can change up to 2 tires either side or the front or back of car, add fuel, and make any adjustments necessary.
There will be a 5 minute time limit for this pit stop.
This race will pay $2,000 to win and pays nicely thru the field
    with $125 to start.
This payout is guaranteed with a 20 car field.
Track tire rule is 8" Goodyear treaded, but Hoosier 8" treaded tires can be run with a $20.00 per tire stamp.
The rules for this race are as follows, if 2 or more cars have contact and there is a yellow flag all cars will be relegated to the rear of the field unless someone is man enough to tap out and take responsibility for the incident.
No penalties for those who stop to avoid the accident.
Last 10 laps are all green flag.

Total payout for this race will be posted next week

I noticed you haven't posted the payout for this race yet, just wondering what it was. I do have a few suggestions tho, you are saying that it pays 125 to start,But it really only pays 25 to start because all you're really doing is giving us back are entry fee of 100 dollars correct me if I'm wrong. I think if you say this is are purse x amount, regardless of the car count, no entry, it might be better for ya just saying. You also said they would stop the race to allow you to bolt on 2 new tires at lap 60, let me explain in these tough times it hard enough to get the money for 4tires, now i have to buy 6 that's not to racer friendly, I say finish what you started on, unless you have a flat, it's called tire management. you also stated that hosiers are welcome, did ya'll no we are on 2 diff compounds 450/ left and 650 right meaning that someone will show up with 450s all the way around you need to clarify that.w Well I hope everybody is well down there see ya soon.

      Hey Tony

I definately like 100 lap races. We need more of them. I got a call from PGS asking if I was coming down. I had to think about it alot heres why.
      1. 6 tires............................................. ...$700 hoosiers..$120 stamp fee
      2. Race fuel....15 gallons for the day...........$120
      3. entry fee............................................$10 0
      4. Fuel and drinks for crew........................$175
      5. pit passes..........................................$1 20
Total expense without car damage...........$ 1,245 without feeding my crew and you've seen them....lol
let me just say that I love that racetrack and racing on it. I do agree that they shouldnt let the racer bolt on tires at lap 60 for a couple reasons..........first is expense and second its not really fair to the man who saves his tires for the first 60 laps. They should just let them move tires if necessary and of course change flats with a back of the field penalty. It kinda lets the race ( play out ) having to run what you started on. I applaud the race track for paying 2000 to win thats a nice purse for a 100 lapper and am curious what it pays through the field myself. But anyway I was at the tire shed at citrus and was gonna buy 6 hoosiers and go down and give em hell but just dont think I can swing it at this time....but will get there soon....Thanks for the phone call PGS.........

Is that the Hoosier grooved tire (650-450) or the treaded Commanche you are reffering to. The 650 & 450 are grooved tires, no tread. Think you should run all 100 laps on the tires you qualify/start on to cut down on expenses. Thats a $300 savings right there.

There wasn't an OWM race last night. I'm not sure what happened, but there was a sign at the ticket booth saying that due to a low car count, they were cancelling the race. I didn't hear how many were there, we got there late.

The last lap of the Pro Truck was the best I've seen in a while. Ross Chastain was driving the 41 Truck, and on the last lap in turn 1, he tapped the back of leader Michael Burns, causing him to nearly spin. The first three trucks checked up to regain control, and Whitney Poole went to the high side and never lifted, beating Burns back to the line. The crowd loved it.

Notice they never took the challenge they tossed out there.... "when other tracks post their payouts, PGS will gladly do the same". When several posts came up from other tracks, they declined to post their own.

All contracts become void when the word "if" is used, and that "if"'didn't get met. I believe racers are getting sick of getting beheaded at the pay window and not getting the money they thought they were due. Bronson did this earlier in the year, and from what I've heard is they got the "take it or leave it" attitude. The racers 'took' the money, then they 'leave' their cars home the next time.

Granted, $2000 to win in a Modified isn't bad... but paying the posted purse REGARDLESS of car count is crucial.

Oh.... that's right... nothing WAS posted so nobody had a clue what to expect. Pulling the wool over racers eyes back-fired on PGS this time.

Shooting straight with people will get you further than dangling carrots in front of the horse. If the horse never gets the carrot, even he is smart enough to stop chasing it.
