  • Announcement from the Florida United Promoters Late Model Series

With the announcement from Punta Gorda Speedway that they have cancelled racing this weekend, the Florida United Promoters Late Model Series would like to invite all the teams that were scheduled to run their 100 lap event to join the Series this Saturday at Desoto Super Speedway in Bradenton, FL. “Although the weather is threatening, we are going to do our best to get the race in” said Series Director Rick Williams. “In turn, we are encouraging our series members to attend Punta Gorda Speedway on June 9th, the scheduled make-up date for their race.”
Round 4 of the FUPLMS has been restructured to include benefits such as $400 to start the race, $3000 to win and no mandatory tire or fuel purchase rule. “We can make this a win-win for the fans, drivers, teams, and both tracks if the weather cooperates,” said Williams.

    Double down! I love it!
Maybe PGS is right, or maybe De Soto is. If the United Promoters rain out, at least they will go down swinging. I'd much rather see this than have everyone cancel on Thursday.

WOW this could of come from the heavens.

WOW!!! The weather may be what it takes to have these two GREAT Series possible work together. With FLUPS making their makeup on an off date for PGS the schedule is starting to work it out. I don't know if the second half of the PGS schedule is made out. But wouldn't it be GREAT to see the all Super race together at several tracks. We all know that when two division race the same night the Teams, and the Fans will have to make a choice. Than the Tracks, and Fans both loose. They need to get that old once a month meeting working again. Everyone WIN's!!!!! Just my 2 cents!

With all the tracks involved having the series races + their own local big races, + all other big races at other race tracks, you will end up with so many races that they will not have full field anyway Bcuz nobody(rare exception aside) now in Asphalt Super Late Model makes 20...30 events per season. Too tiring, too expensive, too far, too short event, too long event, wrong rules, entry fee too high, tires ruling, too something, always an excuse not to be there.

Same here in the North. This is just a plain fact of life.

            But it would be nice.

You have all the reasons for sure. At $4.00+ for fuel would keep the racing down itself. With PGS being closed on May 5 will allow the first step of working together.
