  • Computers in race cars...

    Looking for opinions on computers in entry level cars. We keep having the discussion about what are we going to race in the future and one of the issues will be the computer boards.

    My take on it is that people should be able to "adjust" the settings on the computer board. This type of stuff is what young people will get excited about tinkering with.

    I know there are some who think a stock class means no touching the boards, however I would like to see entry level classes where innovation still is allowed. And this will be one area of tech debate...

    Old cars are beginning to go away and most cars from 1990 have boards and chips. They are where racers/tracks will be pushed to go in the near future.

    Most chips are very inexpensive. It is very hard to police.

    I say, let em have at it. Just let all the racers know it is legal for fairness.

      Let them tune the computers. You'll end up with one or two guys that are beating people because of it, for a while, atleast. But, you'll have that whether its a computer or ...
