  • More bonus $$$ up for grabs at Citrus County Speedway this weekend!

Citrus County Speedway has offered additional money to the Modified and Sportsman divisions. If either division has a field of 16 or more cars for the night, the speedway will add $100 to 1st, $50 to 2nd, and $25 to 3rd place in each division. This will be in effect for the entire season!

This is strickly a bonus program, no payouts have been cut. Bonus money for the other divisions is in the works, and will be released in the coming weeks

You'd be helping the racers better if that money went towards the back of the field, rather than on top.

i agree with frasson118, extra $ need to be added from tenth on back to help the under funded racers because they are spending much more than what they are taking in. 1-3 is getting the most $ but more cars would come out if it was sponsored on back throughout the field. only 1 car will win but 15-20 others are gonna lose money and almost making it a no brainer to sit at home and watch a nascar race than lose money..... my thoughts

Of all the races I ran over the years, I can never remember coming out ahead of the game even with the win. I always lost money. It didn't matter, it was no worse than 100.00 a pound fishing and a lot more fun.

In my opinion, if you are in the top 3 in a class of 16 or better, then you already HAVE the equipment it takes to run at the front. I'd like to see some guys back in the field GET the equipment they need to get to that level. Maybe that $100 bucks to the 11th place finisher would afford him a new tire that could put him in the top 5 next week. Once you get a whiff of the front of the pack, it becomes MUCH more addictive, and THAT'S what we need...!

And that $25 that the guy that didn't even finish might get, would pay his way in next week to try again....

Please don't think I was bitching about extra money.... That's always good. I just think that any way to narrow the gap between the "have's" and "have-nots", would help the sport. Face it, the back half of the field needs it more than the front half does.

Frasson i normally agree with most things you say but i don't agree with adding the extra money to tenth on back... If you want a fan to pull a random number after each race and say 7th gets an extra $100 tonight thats fine. But in every aspect of society there are haves and have nots. Everyone cant win all the time. If a driver is struggling with set up they should ask for help. I'd be glad to help anyone if its gonna make the class more competative.

But that "win" is what we all should strive for. Im more mad when I lose than I am happy when I win. There are many other racers that feel the same way, so if theres a little extra cash to be handed out i want to see it go to the guys that eat, sleep, drink and bleed racing... I know someones gonna say "if they had more $ they would be competative" and thats a valid point. But hell, if I had more money I would still have a Super Late Model. Its up to each individual to choose a class they can be competative in according to skill level and budget.

                          Theres my two cents...

Mike... I can agree with part of that. I think it would be a great idea for 3 fans, picked at random, were to pull a number for 3 racers to get that money. All racers entered have a shot a some extra cash, not just automatically the top 3. This would also get the fans involved, and create some suspense about who the lucky racer will be. If that happens to be drivers that finished in the top 3, then so be it.

I just think it would make a bigger difference to a guy who blew a tire and finished 12th, than the guy who won and still has all his tires and fenders. The winners car is already in position to come back next week... the guy who needs a tire might not be. It could make all the difference of that car showing up or not.

I really like Mikes idea of having fan(s) randomly pick a positon(s) that would have extra cash. You could do alot with that concept, especially in the lower divisions, not only pick spots, but perhaps pick a "bonus" driver and stick a flashing light on his hood or something that fans could identify. Then if he wins, he gets double the first place payout and popcorn is half price or something. Man anything that can help make <10 car fields interesting is worth trying.

I know that stuff is gimicky and the "purist" in me cringes but sitting through those abysmal fields trying to run off 15 laps to get to something i am interested in is worse.
