  • Texas Cup Race

Actually stayed up and watched it (in between catnaps)... Talk about boring... No real competition, no caution flags to keep things bunched up and give teams a chance to tweak on their cars... Even the announcers sounded bored LOL
On the other hand, I hear the Truck race at Rockingham was pretty decent in front of an OK crowd but I'm hearing the best race of the weekend may have been the IRL show at Long Beach... I'm not a fan of street races but they had seven different leaders and nine lead changes which I think may have been better than the Cup race! Had a field of 26 cars so I guess losing Danica hasn't hurt them too much... Did anyone watch this race and was it really pretty decent?

I didn't catch the IRL race but I thought that the trucks were excellent. I wasn't much of a Nelson Piquet, Jr. fan before last night, but he made an amazing late charge through the field to overcome a pit road speeding penalty. And no whining, either. He said that he's young and still makes mistakes. Piquet also said that he loved the track because he had to DRIVE on every lap. Pretty sad that a track like Rockingham was dumped from the Cup schedule for "market" reasons in favor of next week's snoozefest at Chicagoland. Oh yeah, the fact that there's now a casino at Chicagoland sure makes the racing so much better. Good thing it's now on the schedule twice.
