Racetrack concession stands can be very profitable and pose an important part of a successful racetrack.

What is your favorite concession stand item at a race track ?

What is the highest selling item ?

Does any racetrack provide healthy foods on their menu ? I know alot of people that say "I'm not eating that crap" and they eat before the races or leave and get some healthy takeout.

Beer makes people happy and has a high profit margin. What is your favorite beer and would you like a large selection of beer.

Most concessions have the standard - hot dogs, corn dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers but Bronson had bbq that was really good. It was fresh, cooked there, not too badly priced and had some pretty good sides to the meal if you got the meal. And at one time I think NSS had salad which alot of people prefer. If most are like me, even the sound of the word french fry turns my stomach just because of the grease.

USA International had different food vendors there and you could find a pretty good variety of food, some healthy and of course some not. But people do like a choice and not just the standard.

As for beer, don't drink it and could not tell you what is good and what is bad. Besides, I have seen too many drunks who came to a track to drink and not watch a race and that is not my idea of fun. I want to see the race not be blinded by beer and not see it.

A perfect concession for me would offer sandwitches - tuna, chicken salad, ham and cheese, roast beef and maybe salad or macaroni salad and potato salad made fresh. But I am sure this would not be cost effective but good. In the good old days when coolers were allowed, alot of people took in sandwitches, chips, drinks, cookies and if you bought anything it would have been the elephant ears they made.

But for me in all the tracks that I have visited, Bronson's bbq could not be beat. And I like hamburgers but ones that are made with your own hands making the patties and not those frozen hamburgers.

And that is my 2 cents whether good or bad.

What cost less than a pizza to make? They are really cheap. A big ole' pie costs very little to make from scratch, and you could sell them all night for $10. I've heard that beer goes well with pizza. Imagine if that secret got out!

Jane, That was good information ! The last time I was at Eastbay they had alot of different food venders. Selection was good but I think they were there because of a special event. I could be wrong.

Thumbs up to Rex Guy for the family section with no alcohol allowed. That works well at his track.

Well I've been only to East Bay in the last few years and Auburndale once. So I can only comment on these two tracks.

I did go to two Blast From The Past reunion races, but those were catered.

East Bay has a Hungry Howe's and I love there cheesy bread. They also got some good hamburgers and fries also!!! As well as other venders that sells real good popcorn and boil-peanuts.

Auburndale had a good chicken sandwich, but it took them forever to make it!!!

However my all time favorite was Golden Gate Speedway's fries chicken!!! Damn I miss that place!!!

Very good subject. One of my all time favorites was years ago when NSS had their fried dough stand. You could get either with marinara and sprinkled cheese or cinnamon. Sold tons of that stuff. I preferred the marinara style. Years later they tried healthy foods, salads, wraps, soups, but that fell by the wayside. Now Citrus also has their sausage, peppers and onions on a roll. Only $3.50 and very good. Also a good fried bologna at PGS but it needs a slice of onion. Where will I get my steak fries now that VCS is closed? Back in the day favorite was at Seekonk, Mass with their fried clams in turn one. Wonder if they still have them? All tracks need a good hot-dog, not the cheap type most sell now. Well now I gotta go and get something to eat.

Damn, yall got me hungry for a rib sandwich from Bronson, or mini donuts from Lakeland and free beer from Orlando.

Gonna' miss the Taco Salad at LCS for $4.50. Filled the whole plate and could not eat it all.
Another is the 'bloney sammich at PGS for $2.. Big chunk of meat hanging out of a hamburger bun...
As for the I don't drink but the sous...er...um... spouse likes Coors Lite..

I like the sausage, pepper, and onions at Citrus also. Love fried dough but don't see it often down here. I think I had some at East Bay a few years ago. I'm not a big fan of hamburg and hot dogs or fries but will sometimes get them if it's all that's available. Agree with having different brands of drinks. I'm not a pepsi drinker but will get coke. I will not pay the extravagant prices that some places charge though. I'll go without. Lebanon Valley in NY had some of the best concessions of any racetrack. Clean facilities, good food, good variety, and reasonable priced.

New Hendry County had something I hadn't had before, or since.... Smoked Gator Ribs. Very tasty stuff right there..!
