If you run a crate at a certian Ga. track you better get that new bolt there coming out with. The one with a slot in it or a place for an allen wrench to fit. They made it clear they will tear down a crate just as quick as a built!!! That man is such a dumn a$$.

New Crate Bolt for a Georgia track

I run a southern touring series that only runs crates. They have certified engine builders. When you have your motor redone by one of them your motor gets resealed with a different type of seal that has a serial # on it that is regestered with the series and lookes like a master lock and is very easy to see if it has been tampered with. (Not the black market GM seales that look like the original ones.) It is like the engine builder put his signature on your motor.
With that being said. Anybody can get the black market seales. Anybody could go in and cheat up the motor and reseal it and make it look like you just picked it up at the chevy dealer. Yet it has 60hp more than the motor that was resealed by a certified builder. There is no certified builder that will cheat one up with his "signature" on it and loose their reputation. The series I run with cought an engine with after market light weight everthing in it and it had factory(black market)seals in it. It could pass about every external test you could you could through at it.
And with that being said. I am much more worried about an engine when I see "factory" seals in it. Those are the engines that need to be looked at the hardest.
So again. Why don't you think the tech man should NOT be looking at black market(factory) sealed engines? And why is he the dumb a$$?
Disclamer. Not trying to start something. Just don't understand your logic.

Mr South, I just commented on another thread before i read this one about crate motors..bolts are a problem, but i've heard....( no absolute source) that certified re-builders have been getting busted for cheating up crates and re-sealing them. It's all about the money. Something so good and affordable shot to shhittt.Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.

Ha Benny.
The bolts are the problem and they always have been. I don't think you will find a motor that is done by a certified engine builder that is blatant illegal with lightened crank shaft, rod, altered camshaft, acid ported heads with runners and valve unschrouding, valve angles altered and head work done if it has a his certified builder seal on it. When you go and run a Saturday night show that is what you get. The tech man see's "factory" seals and they ASUME it it legal. The series I run. If a motor has factory seals in it and it wins or even top 3 you can bet that motor is coming apart.
It is just an opinion but I think that all motors should have to be sealed by a certified builder. At your Saturday night show I think you should have to registered your seals with tech. Tech should have to certify that the seals are legal from a certified builder. Use any "certified" builder in the country. Keep your normal protest rules in place like any other class. If you feel like you are getting beat by motor protest them.
I'll bet if this kind of deal took place acrossed the country and you were thinking of buying a crate motor. And you didn't want to spend the extra money it takes to get a "top notch" blue printed resealed motor,I'll bet if you bought your crate motor from a certified that they would reseal it for you for just the extra cost of the seals.
Just an opinion

Mr. South
The reasoning behind what SGMP man said was this.
He believes as I do that crate motors have to be controlled to be an effective class, I believe you feel the same about this.
What he did not say was that the crate motor in question was found legal and the owner was welcome to take it home in a box and handed 200 bucks for his trouble. Can you get a crate certified guy to put your crate back together and certify it with his seals for 200 bucks?
With this being said, I fully believe the track is trying to do the right thing.
